Technical Stores Representative

Reporting to the Supervisor of Stores, this position works closely with Corporate Purchasing and is responsible for ordering, receiving, warehousing, issuing, costing of parts and materials as well as providing services as may be required by Corporate Fleet Services, Central Operations and other Corporate Divisions. Duties will include but not be restricted to:
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide parts, supplies, and/or services needed for work orders or requisitions by Mechanics, Supervisors, Managers, staff or client departments as required.
- Solicit vendor quotations where required and perform the necessary release of goods and services against blanket orders and perform the procurement of non-blanket or contract needs.
- Attend to the ordering/receiving of various commodities, services and supplies including but not limited to, automotive parts, heavy equipment parts, agricultural parts, small equipment parts, shop machine tools, lubricants and hardware.
- Deliver, pickup or arrange for pickup of goods at various vendors as required.
- Distribution of parts and supplies to the customer counter, warehouse and shop as required.
- Ensure that proper stock levels are maintained as per the instruction/direction of the Supervisor.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the inventory management system (JD Edwards).
- Create and manage work orders and purchase orders.
- Reconciliation of purchases within a manual or electronic system.
- Offload deliverables either manually or, where able, with a forklift.
- In the case of warranty issues, properly secure items for shipping back to vendor.
- Cost work orders and outside services for parts and labour and prepare reports as directed/required within a manual or electronic system.
- Perform necessary entries, electronically and/or manually to inventory records, cost ledgers, fuel and fleet system(s) as directed.
- Generate reports from the various computer programs as required by management or supervisory staff.
- Assist in the performance of a semi-annual and annual physical inventory count.
- Perform maintenance and upkeep of blanket order file and master parts catalogues.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized stockroom with proper shelving and labeling of goods and assist/perform in the maintenance and cleaning of appropriate Stores areas.
- Build and maintain effective, helpful relations with staff, vendors, and other departments, ensuring ethical and professional purchasing practices.

**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of Grade 12 education plus college certificate in automotive parts and warehousing or 2 years related study.
- 3+ years’ experience working in a supply chain/inventory management function.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Certifications in purchasing, supply chain, inventory management considered an asset.
- Fuel Handling Attendant Certification required.
- Mathematical competencies for reconciliation of invoice balancing for town credit card purchases, price checking, material acquisitions, measuring areas, uses percentages, ratios, averages, formulas and conversions.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of light automotive, agricultural, heavy truck and off-road equipment parts and supplies in addition to competency with navigating manufacturer’s catalogues and websites is necessary.
- Working knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, MSDS (updates MSDS binders), CSA, SAE, Safety Standards, Corporate By-Laws (Purchasing and others), Gasoline Handling Act, Fire Code, Building Code, WHIMIS, TDG, amongst others.
- Demonstrated effective organizational, communication, both oral and written, customer service (public and staff) and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient time management skills and ability to multi-task are essential.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Must possess valid and unrestricted Class G minimum with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behavior. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. The successful applicant will be required to provide the Corporation with a current drivers abstract (no older than 30 days) prior to assuming the position.
- Forklift certification or willing to obtain.
