St. Michael's Hospital is currently recruiting for Clinical Leader/Manager who is results-oriented and demonstrates a leadership style that is visionary, creative, and collaborative. In this pivotal role, you will draw upon your team building and change management skills to lead an interdisciplinary team in advancing evidence based practices. You will be responsible for the seamless integration of patient care delivery while ensuring the roles, responsibilities, and functions continue to evolve to meet changing corporate needs. You will be accountable for the quality of patient care, utilization of resources, professional practice and staff development and for developing innovative, team based approaches to the day-to-day management of the Unit and to the delivery of service.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Being responsible for clinical, financial and human resources management with a focus on quality outcomes for orthopaedic patients in an inpatient unit and through associated ambulatory clinic settings
- Drawing upon your team-building and change management skills to advance clinical practice
- Being accountable for the development, implementation and management of quality improvement initiatives to ensure best possible patient care and outcomes
- Supporting organizational strategies and staff initiatives that promote the development of a motivated, cohesive team through educational support strategies to enhance staff knowledge, professional nursing practices and patient care
- Being accountable for the equality of patient care
- Being responsible for staff development and for developing team-based approaches to the day to day management of the unit
- Demonstrating a patient/family focused approach to all care practices
- Working in collaboration with physicians to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services
- Effectively introducing and managing change within the units and supporting staff through the changes
- Developing and fostering positive internal and external relationships with clients, community partners and internal and external service providers
- Participating actively in program specific and hospital wide initiatives through committee and task force membership, hospital planning and management forums

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a recognized Master’s Degree in Nursing or other health discipline, Current certificate of licensure/registration with the a recognized professional regulatory College required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience including orthopaedics or other acute surgical areas
- Minimum 3 years of recent management experience or evidence of progressive leadership roles in a relevant health care field.
- Theoretical and practical experience in adult education required, including educational program planning, development and evaluation preferred
- Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program
- Proven experience as a clinical resource/expert for staff and demonstrated success in leadership of a multidisciplinary team in their professional and interdependent practice
- Demonstrated human resources management, financial management, utilization management and risk management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment including group facilitation, mediation, team building and conflict resolution skills
- Proven success in providing visionary leadership in a team environment and ability to encourage innovation and creativity among staff and physicians
- Proven experience developing and implementing care delivery models based on best practices and proven experience developing policies and developing and implementing education plans for nurses and multidisciplinary staff
- Demonstrated commitment to research in related field and evidence based practice and continuous professional development
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to analyze and utilize clinical and management data for planning purposes and program development and evaluation
- Organizational skills to manage competing priorities and balance multiple tasks
