**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resource Generalist is a key member of the Leadership Team, responsible for overseeing both human resources functions and the broader aspects of organizational culture. This role encompasses managing the full employee life cycle—from recruitment to exits—while also ensuring employee engagement and promoting a positive workplace culture. Additionally, this position handles tasks typically associated with general office management, such as ordering office supplies, maintaining office operations, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient work environment.
The Human Resource Generalist demonstrate empathy and professionalism when interacting with employees. They will ensure alignment with CMOW’s values, culture, mission, and strategic plan. This role will also lead efforts to foster an inclusive, engaged, and collaborative work atmosphere through social initiatives, team-building activities, and employee participation programs.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Hiring, Interviewing, Onboarding and Offboarding Staff
- Assisting the hiring managers with all recruitment and selection
- Ensure that all new staff understand our values and mission and are equipped for success
- Ensure all new staff experience an engaging, yet thorough onboarding
- Manage the termination process for departing employees
Administering Pay, Benefits, and Leave
- Ensure accurate and timely management of payroll, benefits, and employee leave.
Record Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee records
- Running various reports for both the CEO and the Controller
Creating and Updating People Policies and Procedures
- Ensure all HR policies comply with current legislation
Performance Management
- Assist leadership in managing employee performance
Occupational Health & Safety
- Actively participate in the OH&S Committee
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation
Office Operations and Culture Initiatives
- Ensure the smooth running of office functions and a positive organizational culture.
Employee Engagement and Participation
- Actively participate in the Social Committee
- Develop strategies to increase employee engagement
- Develop and evaluate annual employee engagement surveys
- Promote an inclusive workplace by leading diversity initiatives
- Encourage active team involvement in cultural and social activities.
**Education, Experience and Qualifications**:
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar Human Resource role
- Experience with payroll is required
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Clean police record and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Clean 5-year Drivers Abstract
- Proficient in spoken and written English
