**ABOUT CHILD DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE**
Child Development Institute (CDI) is a leading children’s mental health agency in the City of Toronto offering a range of services to approximately 3,000 children ages 0‐12, youth ages 13-18 and their families each year. Our mission is to promote and support the healthy development of children and to strengthen the families and communities in which they live. We provide four streams of service to families in need: early intervention, family violence, healthy child development and specialized mental health services for children and youth with learning disabilities.

We are seeking a goal-oriented and collaborative Coordinator, ELC to join our dynamic Early Years and Child Care Services Team. Reporting to the Associate Director, EYCCS, the Coordinator, ELC will be responsible for in-program support to the childcare Educators, ensure clear communication between ELC Director and Educators, ensure adherence to the ELC policies and procedures, and oversee the Early Learning Centre when the Director is absent.

**What the role is all about...**

1. Be a team leader. Work with the ELC Director to encourage and support the continual development of Educators to provide high quality early learning and childcare

2. Support HDLH pedagogy environment with goals and strategies

3. Act as a resource to Educators including role-modeling effective classroom strategies and techniques

4. Support Educators to observe and collect data that reflects children’s learning and behaviour (documentation, notes, photos, work sample etc.).

5. Grow classroom practices that is reflective of strong images of children, families, communities, and colleagues working together

6. In consultation with ELC Director, review program plans to ensure focus on learning experiences and preparation of appropriate materials/activities

7. Responsible to alert the ELC Director when the behaviour of Educators affects children’s learning, Educators performance and/or the performance of the early learning centre

8. Ensure compliance with ELC policies and procedures

9. Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

10. With the ELC Director, participate in the purchase of material and equipment related to program development

11. Support Educators to consistently maintain positive AQI ratings and Licensing and Health/Safety requirements

12. With the ELC Director assess Educator’s gap in knowledge, create a professional development/training calendar for individual/group

13. Support ongoing use of HI Mama

14. Assist with Dayforce input (in ELC Director’s absence) and organizing staff schedules

15. Receive Educators absent alert call-in and schedule supply staff as needed

16. Respond to parents request and inquiries, pass on to ELC Director or designate when appropriate

17. Act as onsite In-Charge in ELC Director’s absence, including an understanding and a working knowledge of administrative tasks and timelines for administrative duties.

18. Keep track of office and general housekeeping supplies. Place order as approved

19. Assist with supply staff and Early Childhood Assistants recruitment

20. Cover short periods of in-program as needed

21. Maintain and update program, families, and community info bulletin boards

22. Take minutes at staff meetings and Parent Advisory meetings and other duties assigned.

- Degree/Diploma in Early Childhood Education
- Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR

**Skills, Attributes and Abilities**
- Extensive knowledge of child development and effective individual and group programming in a childcare setting
- Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful and aware manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Excellent time management, planning, organizing, problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of CCEYA, Ontario Early Learning Framework (HDLH/ELECT), Toronto Children’s Services AQI
- Updated health assessment and immunization as required by Ministry of Education
- Advance communication skills (both written and oral)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in Words, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience supervising in a unionized and non-profit environment
- General knowledge of legislation human rights and employment standards

**Workplace Environment**
- Governed by concurrent and dynamic deadlines, despite conflicting priorities and frequent interruptions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
