The Career Education team is a critical component of the Experiential Learning (EL) Hub at the University of Guelph which reports to both the Vice Provost of Student Affairs and the Associate Vice-President Academic. Reporting to the Associate Director, Career and Co-operative Education, the Manager of Career Education is an integral part of the EL Hub Leadership Team.
Embracing a growth mindset, the Manager of Career Education, will develop an assessment plan for the career development programming delivered by the team and create plans for a continuous improvement cycle. The incumbent will examine research and implement new programming utilizing evidence-based decision-making and successfully communicate this to our academic partners on-campus.
Requirements for this position include:
- An Undergraduate degree in a related field along with at least three (3) years of experience working in Career Education. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Patience, dedication, and the ability to build rapport with various stakeholders.
- Proven strategic thinking, with the ability to execute related plans and programming while understanding the nuances of the different colleges and other parties on campus,
- A collaborative approach to career development is an important method of leadership in this role.
- Ability to work collegially with other managers in the unit, specifically the Managers of Co-operative Education, fostering intentional and positive working relationships between Career Advisors and Co-operative Education Coordinators
- Knowledge of the University academic programs and procedures would be considered an asset.
