Training and Employment Program Assistant

Connect-ED Working Circles program (CEWC) is a virtual training and employment incentive program funded by the federal government through the Youth Employment Skills Strategy (YESS) grant. The program's primary objective is to enhance the design, media, and employability skills of youth ages 15 to 10. Under the direction of the Executive Director and the CEWC Program Lead, the Training & Employment Program Assistant will help support the delivery and administration of the CEWC program.
**Specific Tasks & Duties**:
- Support delivery and development of workshops for the CEWC Program
- 1:1 mentorship and check-ins with youth enrolled in program
- Help the CEC deliver essential digital skills to youth and students in the community
- Monitor, track, and report youth progress
- Provide experiential learning to youth cohorts, facilitate virtual mentorship with partners and form relationships with new community partners
- Assist youth with quality employment opportunity placements
- Foster leadership and digital literacy skills via working alongside industry professionals.
- Enable the CEC to take on a larger cohort of students interested in attaining key skills that can be transferred into growing technology sectors
- Help to generate digital literacy skills that prove to be essential whilst COVID-19 has pushed many job sectors into the virtual realm
- Taking a lead role liaising between youth and potential mentors, matching the goals of specific youth with individuals in the community that best reflect the career path they hope to explore
- Participate in virtual meetings and networking events
- Support additional programs/events when needed
**Qualifications**:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience making cold calls and also following up with warm leads
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite
- Demonstrated ability to act as a professional representative of an organization
- Experience in working with youth or youth education would be an asset
- Public speaking skills/confidence would be an asset
- Experience with workshop facilitation or other program delivery would be an asset
- Some experience in scheduling, event planning would be an asset
- Experience in outreach and community relationship building would be an asset
- Networking and outreach experiences
- Data entry
- Familiarity with technology or related industries
This position is 90% remote, as attending some in-person events in the Guelph region is occasionally required.
