**Salary**: $2,626.89 to $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561 - $90,011/year)

**Organizational Context**:
The Indigenous Knowledge Coordinator is responsible for developing and running the foundational knowledge program, gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing knowledge and information from a variety of sources to develop and implement cultural understanding strategies in order to foster a more culturally respectful and culturally inclusive organization.

This position functions with a high degree of independence and professionalism in an environment characterized by a high volume of work carried out under time specific deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The incumbent will require a highly developed communication skill set with a demonstrated ability to develop and coordinate materials for the unit, plan and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and develop recommendations for consideration of senior decision-makers.

**Role Responsibilities**:
1. Assist department staff in understanding and providing Indigenous gifting and cultural protocols.
- Identify opportunities, assist in developing materials and communication to increase awareness and understanding of the gifting and cultural protocols among department staff.
- Monitor and maintain the gift bank inventory, replenish the inventory with appropriate gifts as needed.
- Maintain a database of available gifts and the use of gifts.
- Provide gifting to department staff.
- Develop a policy and protocol for gifting for the department.

2. Coordinate, plan, implement, deliver, and facilitate cultural understanding workshops and training to ensure cultural understanding deliverables are developed and delivered in a timely manner and to the highest standard.
- Implement the Speakers Series, identify potential speakers, logistics and evaluation.
- Identify key topics and issues pertinent to developing a culturally competent organization.
- Reviews literature and qualitative evidence for relevant information on models, strategies, and promising practices to inform planning and development of a cultural understanding framework for the ministry.
- Identifies and contracts with internal and/or external instructors and speakers, as required, to deliver cultural awareness workshops and courses.

3. Coordination of department's work with Indigenous Languages.
- Assist in the development of symposiums and conferences.
- Identify key topics and issues relevant to Indigenous languages in Alberta. Recommend strategies to senior leadership.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in Native Studies, Indigenous Studies, and other related fields plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of experience.
