Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for accurate and concise collection of employee information and inputting required data into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), full cycle recruitment and employee retention activities, job descriptions, workplace policies and procedures, benefit administration, and employee relations. The position involves working with management and non-management staff, and requires the ability to provide confidential functions unique to the Human Resources area.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assists in full cycle recruitment, i.e. on-boarding and off boarding process;
- Responsible for the preparation and distribution of job postings, results and Letters of Offer for all vacancies;
- Assists with conducting interviews with supervisors/managers;
- Conducts reference checks and obtain Criminal Record Checks with Vulnerable sectors check as well as Adult Abuse Registry checks;
- Updates information in HRIS; create and maintain employee records and files;
- Assists in the administration and set up of employee training and development program;
- Maintenance of training details in the HRIS, notification and scheduling when training expires;
- Coordinates with benefits provider to provide enrollment and termination of employees to Siloam Mission’s benefits program;
- Assists with development and maintenance of Siloam Mission job descriptions;
- Assists in the fulfillment of HR Initiatives and projects;
- Provides Human Resources representation as a member on various internal committees;
- Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to all information viewed and/or obtained from employee personnel records;
- Acts as a resource to management and staff in matters of general HR inquiries as well as in the interpretation of Human Resources policies;
- Assists with the design, development, implementation, delivery and on-going management of appropriate Human Resource policies and programs to meet the organization’s needs;
- Provides support and guidance to managers to ensure best HR practices are followed;
- Provides support and assistance to Occupational Safety and Health;
- Provides support to the payroll department for the administration of employee salary and benefit programs;
- Maintains continuing awareness of all changes to federal and provincial legislation pertaining to employee relations;
- Provides advice and support to managers on Human Resources matters;
- Conducts educational training sessions;
- Participates in and leads workplace investigations;
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned;
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or a combination of related education and experience in Human Resources field;
- 2-3-years’ experience working in Human Resources functions;

- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills;
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Ability to work with a variety of sensitive information and to maintain confidentiality;
- High level of self-motivation, commitment and initiative;
- Outstanding attention to detail;
- Excellent time management skills and ability prioritize work;
- Ability to work as part of a team, flexible and ability to quickly adapt;
- Ability to conduct and lead fair and thorough workplace investigations;
- Advanced problem solving and conflict resolution skills required;
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships;
**RELATIONSHIP**
- Works closely with supervisors, managers, directors and employees.

**WORKING CONDITION**
- Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:00 - 4:30 pm
- Office environment where the incumbent functions autonomously on a day to day basis and manages duties accordingly;
- Hazardous conditions could potentially include unpredictable or risky behaviours from community members;
