- Winnipeg is a city of approximately 750,000 located on the Red River, 108 kms north of the US border. Being near the centre of Canada, it is a major transportation centre. The city's population is fairly diverse, representing people from many different cultures. Most of the people are English speaking with French, Filipino and Chinese being other predominant languages. There are about 65,000 First Nations people living in Winnipeg.
There are almost 50 Mennonite churches in Winnipeg, which is home to about 30,000 Mennonites. Winnipeg has two large public liberal arts universities and a Mennonite university (Canadian Mennonite University). There are also two Mennonite private high schools.
Winnipeg temperatures can range from 40°C (104°F) in summer to -45°C (-49°F) in winter, with average summer temperatures around 25.4°C (77.7°F) and average winter temperatures around -12.9°C (8.8°F).

**Qualifications**Qualifications**:

- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resource Management or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
- Completion of or working towards Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation considered an asset
- Knowledge of human resources information systems (HRIS) and/or database management
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
- Excellent interpersonal skills in a collaborative and diverse team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and prioritize a wide variety of tasks
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Successful police record check (upon hire)
- Legally able to work in Canada

**Job Synopsis**
- The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for managing a variety of HR activities including HRIS database, payroll and benefits administration, and the recruitment process for MCC Manitoba (MCCM) staff. The HR Generalist reports to MCC Manitoba’s Director of Human Resources.

**Challenges**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Payroll and Benefit Administration
- Responsible for accurate processing of all payroll elements,
- Maintain database of payroll information, prepare and input payroll for processing,
- Responsible for timely and accurate benefits and group retirement plan administration including new enrolment, termination, modifications, staff inquiries and premium changes,
- Respond to inquiries from employees and managers regarding payroll, time sheets, reports, attendance, etc. in a timely manner,
- Year-end balancing, issuing T4’s

Administration
- Maintain all aspects of MCCM’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Manage overtime and leave process for staff, tracking all leave requests/balances and overtime accruals and balances,
- Assist with reports and data analytics as requested,
- Assist with maintaining employee handbook and circulate updates as required,
- Ensure all Employment Standards are met in all related processes,
Recruitment
- Manage all aspects of the recruitment and hiring process for all positions with MCC Manitoba using the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

General
- Participate in regular staff meetings
- Model non-violent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ's unconditional love to those with whom you work
- Participate in the Canadian Human Resources Network and the joint Global HR Network meetings.
