**Recruitment range: $131,103 - $163,878** maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.

**Performance range: starting salary to max of $188,460** is available through annual performance increases.

- Job Summary- The Director of Residence Services develops, implements and assesses comprehensive strategies, resources, and operational goals and practices to deliver an exceptional student residence experience grounded in sound student development pedagogy, the CAS Standards (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education), and North American standards in higher education related to student housing infrastructure, financial management, and business development as UVic’s largest ancillary operation. The Director aligns the vision and goals of Residence Services with institutional enrolment management planning and institutional plans and initiatives related to the UVic student experience. The Director is a leader who is effective at developing and implementing an organizational structure that builds a team of dedicated and diverse student affairs practitioners that work together to further the goals and initiatives of Residence Services.The Director is highly skilled at navigating the complexities of leading a large ancillary whereby astute business acumen, asset management, and long range planning are essential in the sustainability and success of the operation over the longer term.The Director is an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, who works to action Divisional, Departmental, and unit based goals that align with related plans set out by the University. The Director is also an advocate for advancing UVic’s commitments to advancing respect and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and the commitments set out with local Indigenous communities whose relationships with UVic continues to present day.
- The Director represents and advocates for students living in housing when interacting with key stakeholders on campus. The Director advances the vision and goals of Residence Services through effective collaborations and engagement with colleagues, units, and teams across Student Services and the Division of Student Affairs, with student societies, student leaders, advocacy groups, community and/or provincial agencies, student advocates, and with key academic and non-academic units that are actively engaged in related work across campus.- Job Requirements**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Qualifications must include a minimum of 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in higher education (student affairs/student services) with direct accountability for University residence operations.
- The Director must possess a minimum of a graduate (Master’s level) degree with credentials in a related field (eg; MA, MEd, MBA).

**Key job-specific competencies**:

- A sophisticated understanding of institutional culture and the ability to influence, lead, and achieve results with leaders, stakeholders, and others in a post-secondary setting.
- Demonstrated experience with developing major infrastructure assets, developing and implementing deliberate long term planning and establishing asset management strategies.
- A proven track record of developing educationally based co-curricular experiences for students, industry leading education and residence life programs. The Director must share the vision that student housing is not just a place to stay but also an institution that significantly contributes to the education and development of young adults.
- A demonstrated record of accomplishment and/or clear understanding of the correlation between the function of the Residence Services and student success, retention, and persistence.
- Experience developing organizational structures that manage risk, establish robust emergency management plans, actively address at-risk students and embrace staff and student safety as a core cultural element. The Director should be comfortable with discussing and mitigating a wide range of risk issues that can have severe institutional repercussions if mismanaged.
