Brand Specialist, Factual Content (14 Month Contract)

This role is also the key contact for all of our Canadian cable partners. This Brand Specialist, Factual Content (14 month contract) role will oversee audience growth and fan engagement for the Canadian BBC Earth, BBC First and Smithsonian Channel brands across all consumer touchpoints (TV, social, digital, print and live events). They will continue to come up with clever ways to promote our HistoryTime FAST Channel and be the key contact for our cable partners. This hybrid home/office role is based in Toronto and will report to the VP Marketing, Global Media.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Plan and execute seasonal and show-based promotional campaigns including: developing creative briefs, managing delivery and production of promotional assets, and coming up with creative ways to drive television tune-in.
- Responsible for liaising with our Canadian cable partners, by capitalizing on promotional opportunities, managing delivery of assets and keeping them informed.
- Work closely with various cross-functional teams (content, research, sales, ad operations, digital,and publicity) to ensure consistent messaging and coordination of efforts across all viewer facing promotional activities.
- Liaise with our U.S. stakeholders (BBC Earth and Smithsonian Channel) to manage the requests and deliveries of promotional assets along with creating bi-annual Brand Business Reviews
- Work with Research and our Manager of Video Strategy to track campaign performance and quickly respond to optimize and shift plans as required.
- Responsible for social media content calendar planning, strategy and execution for our BBC Earth and Smithsonian brands in Canada along with BBC First and HistoryTime.
- Own social fan engagement by listening and responding to fans to ensure customer service is timely and consistent, as well as engaging proactively in relevant hashtags and conversations.
- Work with graphic and video production teams to create on-air promos and digital content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and websites as needed.
- Deepen our brand affinity through activations at two Consumer shows a year.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and the rare weekend for specific show and brand launch initiatives.

What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience with a demonstrated focus on brand building and fan engagement
- Project management skills with the ability to set and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work autonomously
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in related field
- Proven ability to build engaged organic communities for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
- Savvy communication skills - written and visual
- A good working knowledge of Google Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, Adobe Photoshop, Wordpress and up-to-date digital marketing best practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team building skills; ability to work collaboratively in a cross functional organization and manage multiple stakeholders to deliver exceptional results
- Must also believe that cable television is still cool (but so are the newer kids like Prime Video and Samsung TV+)
