Independent Recycling Analyst

This position requires rotating shifts Monday to Friday 5:30am - 1:00pm / 10:00am - 6:30pm.

AET Group is a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting, auditing and scientific services company providing professional services to the built and natural environments in the following core service areas: Solid Waste Management, Environmental Compliance & Management, Environmental Mitigation & Monitoring, Water Resources, Environmental Audits, Energy Management, Air Quality & Climate Change, Natural Sciences, GHG Accounting, Sustainability, and Building Sciences. Headquartered in Kitchener Ontario, AET provides services across Canada and the United States. AET is looking for dedicated, skilled and knowledgeable people to complement our current team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- On-site observation and oversight of daily inbound recycling audits, ensuring that prescribed methodology and protocols are being followed, including;
- Directing random sample collection
- Observing audit team sorting the samples
- Ensuring proper classification of materials
- Undertaking quality control checks on sorted materials
- Ensuring audit results are properly recorded
- Completing audit documentation/logs
- Data aggregation, analysis & monthly reporting
- Preparing monthly summary reports for review by AET Project Managers
- Preparing monthly audit schedule
- Administrative & Communications
- Regular communication and status updates with AET project managers & clients
- Audit dispute resolution in consultation with AET project managers
- Entering work hours and expenses into AET’s online timesheets

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Studies or related field
- Previous experience or knowledge in waste/recycling audits
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Word
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and in a professional manner
- Able to make decisions confidently
- Able to adjudicate and mediate issues as they arise (i.e. determining whether item is recyclable or not, whether materials are being sorted correctly)
- Able to function in an independent environment
- Possess initiative, adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to learn
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills

**Typical Activities/Physical Abilities**:

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk
- Able to lift 20kg
- Regularly required to walk outside in varying weather conditions
- PPE Requirements: half-mask respirator, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, reflective vest

**Location / Hours**

This position works out of our client’s facility in North York.

Rotating shift Monday to Friday 5:30am - 1:00pm / 10:00am - 6:30pm
