**SUMMARY**

The Health & Safety Manager will work in collaboration with the Health & Safety team to ensure that health and
safety programs are developed and implemented to support a strong positive safety culture based on a continuous
improvement model. The role will oversee site safety requirements so that operational activities are adequately
supported. This role can be in either our Coquitlam or Kamloops location.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coach and mentor Safety Advisors to achieve optimum site Health & Safety performance;
- Perform hazard assessments and workplace inspections;
- Assist the VP, Health, Safety & Environment in the development of a world class Health & Safety managed

system based on COR, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001;
- Conduct safety audits to establish an understanding of baseline performance and develop strategies to

support continuous improvement;
- Develop and deliver Health & Safety training modules to help build a sustainable safety culture;
- Conduct trend analyses, monitor and report on company performance and develop improvement strategies

based on performance trends;
- Act as a change agent in support of continuous improvement;
- Maintain and update the company Health & Safety Manual and associated governing documents;
- Collaborate with Department and Project Managers to implement Health & Safety program elements;
- Provide consultation and support to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees;
- Liaise with regulatory agents to develop effective working relationships and support regulatory compliance;
- Lead incident investigations into high consequence accidents and near miss events and recommend

corrective actions to prevent future occurrence;
- Recommend corrective actions and assist in timely implementation of corrective actions;
- Provide technical support and mentorship to Health & Safety team;
- Support the Return to Work program and processes;
- Ensure the VP, HSE and project management are kept informed of Health & Safety issues in a timely manner;
- Other related duties as required.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**

- An understanding of business drivers and the ability to influence and facilitate the implementation and

maintenance of the Health & Safety managed system;
- Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict, able to effectively communicate ideas and be an active listener;
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize and deliver creative solutions;
- Willing to travel and work in remote locations as required for extended periods.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CREDENTIALS**
- University Degree or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, such as BCIT or University of New

Brunswick;
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Health & Safety professional;
- Minimum 3 years Supervisory experience;

management, safety management system development and implementation, incident/injury prevention,
hazard identification, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis;
- Certified COR Internal Auditor training is an asset;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Construction

Safety Officer is an asset;
- Experience in the electrical construction trades industry an asset.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**
- Overtime and travel will be required;
- Travel to off-site locations may be required;
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.;
- Hazards associated with the trade;
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
