Mechanical Maintenance Manager

Certified Sales & Rentals is currently recruiting to fulfill a Mechanical Maintenance Manager. The Mechanical Maintenance Manager’s primary responsibilities include managing the workload within the shop, leading, and mentoring the team of mechanics, millwrights, and shop laborers, and ensuring quality work is completed safely and in a timely manner. The equipment repaired and/or serviced comes from both external and internal customers.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Leadership**
- It is expected that ~75% of the Mechanical Maintenance Manager’s time will be on the shop floor providing guidance, mentorship, and hands-on assistance to the team
- Schedule jobs and manage workflow through the shop
- Assign work to employees based on their knowledge and skill level
- Provide weekly status report on jobs
- Provide mentorship to mechanics, millwrights and shop laborers to increase their knowledge, technical skills and understanding of a wide variety of equipment, vehicles and tools
- Facilitate training of workers in using tools of the trade including cranes, hoisting and lifting devices, pull test beds, hand tools, diagnostic tools, etc.
- Ensure mechanics, millwrights and shop laborers understand the flow of work to complete all required steps in the diagnosis and repair process according to QA/QC protocols
- Manage employee performance, training, and disciplinary measures
**Mechanical Work**
- Receive, track, and monitor equipment under repair
- Facilitate recertification and repairs on:
- Heavy construction and mining equipment (i.e. skid steers, telehandlers, manlifts, scoop trams, etc.)
- Engine and motor components
- Automobiles
- Chain Hoists/Lever Hoists
- Tuggers and winches (air, electric, hydraulic)
- Generators and fans
- Power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Group of Companies’ fleet vehicles and trailers
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional part requirements
- Operate hoists, jacks, and other lifting devices safely
- Conduct routine maintenance work (i.e. replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.)
- Schedule future maintenance sessions
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts (e.g. leaks)
- Use available tools and testing devices to diagnose malfunctions and extent of repair required
- Use and follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions
- Prepare accurate repair costing and time required to complete the work
- Identify value-added customer service experiences (i.e. ensure manuals go with equipment, outline routine maintenance, include spare filters, etc.)
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance to ensure that completed work meets manufactures’ specifications and corporate standards
- Must be able to travel to perform repairs onsite, as required (less than 10%)
**Parts and Shop Supplies**
- Maintain appropriate levels of equipment, parts, and supplies inventories
- Determine inventory level
- Anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies
- Place and expedite orders
- Verify receipts
- Draw on a network of vendors and suppliers to complete repairs in a cost-effective and timely manner
**Administrative Functions**
- Assist with defining and refining work order processes
- Document repairs made including completion of inspection checklists, parts used, and time spent
- Provide invoicing and record-keeping information to the administration office
**REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS**
- Journeyman or Apprenticeship in recognized program
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in diagnosing, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
- Experience in leading a team
- Any safety-related training and certificates would be beneficial, but not required
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Ability to detect, isolate and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment (troubleshooting problems)
- Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal
- Strong ability to lead and mentor team to ongoing success
- Strong commitment to safety
- Strong delegation skills with ability to oversee completion of tasks
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines
