**Manager, Group Finance**

**Why you’ll love this role**:
The Manager, Group Finance leads the Group Finance and Analytics team and is responsible for financial reporting, planning, analysis and controls for the Group Solutions division. The Manager leads a team that develops and prepares financial reporting, sales reporting and expense management metrics to enable the proactive management of key business outcomes.

**What you’ll be working on**:
- Lead the quarterly financial reporting process for the line of business, ensuring all elements of the business are appropriately accounted for
- Analyze and present financial performance results and trends to senior management to support decision making
- Develop and oversee key performance metrics in areas of expense management, distribution partnerships and sales performance. Identify areas of concern and make recommendations to management for improvement
- Oversee and review the compilation of data to understand emerging results and trends; use experience and judgment to provide insight to Senior Management
- Develop the 5 year financial plan; present to the divisional Senior Leadership team for review and approval; monitor emerging results versus plan and update forecasts as required
- Lead the annual budgeting exercise for the division; oversee the preparation of the preliminary budgets for each cost centre for review and approval by Senior Management
- Conduct the monthly review of divisional operating expenses and collaborate with management in the review of variances against budgets
- Manage reinsurance reporting and ensure appropriate payments are made to reinsurance partners and provide input into and/or manage and negotiate reinsurance agreements
- Develop and maintain accounting processes and perform calculations, including profitability analysis and profit statements for all complex partnerships
- Participate in or lead projects and the development of cost benefit analysis (CBA) for initiatives
- Act as key liaison with corporate areas (corporate finance, IT, audit) on financial matters impacting the line of business
- Manage the company submission to pooling bodies (CDIPC and QUDP)
- Oversee market research, trend analysis and provide insight and recommendations for improvements to management
- Oversee the development of sales and financial performance monitoring tools to improve management access to performance metrics and analysis
- Coach and mentor team members; identify employee training and development needs; participates in the hiring and employment processes for team members; set employee goals and objectives; manage employee performance

**What you’ll need to have**:
- Completion of a university degree with courses in Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics and/or Business
- 5+ years relevant work experience, preferably in financial services or insurance industry
- Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, database and word processing software
- Proven experience with quantitative and qualitative trends and analysis and a strong understanding of key business drivers
- Leadership, supervisory and/or management experience
- Strong technical experience with financial and expense analysis modeling
- Proven experience using forecasting tools and methodologies

- Well-developed communication, negotiation, persuasion and presentation skills
