**Purpose and Scope**
To work in a conscientious and efficient manner to meet Company production standards, while setting up and operating the Brake Press. To flange specifically designed pieces of material for large or small coil assembly, research and development and maintenance.

**Organization Relationship**
The Brake Press Set up employee is responsible to perform required job functions designated by the Sheet Metal Department Foreman in connection with work policies and procedures directed by the Company.

**Working Conditions**
The Brake Press Set up works in a controlled plant environment and will be required to perform such actions as standing, bending, lifting. Personal protective equipment such as ear protection, safety eyeglasses and safety steel-toed work boots are mandatory with an emphasis on wearing gloves. Must be available to work Day or Night Shifts.

2 Shifts (8 hours): 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM and 3:30 PM - Midnight

**Duties**

1. Read work orders and drawings to understand the job requirements.

2. Understand the difference in materials and tools.

3. Correctly set up machine with proper components for the job.

4. Select proper dies that are required for the job.

5. Align top and bottom dies.

6. Set backstops and ram height.

7. Program computer for job specifications.

8. Ensure proper set up by measuring first produced piece as per drawing.

9. Complete job quantity as per work order in a time efficient manner.

10. Check quality of fabricated parts as per the requirements on the drawing Quality

Assurance Record.

11. Complete all paperwork as required on the Quality Assurance Record.

12. Relocate fabricated parts to designated storage location.

13. Check lower grades work as required.

14. Must check all work to be braked

**Responsibilities**
1. Proper use of materials, equipment and tools required for performing this job function.

2. Required to ensure Brake Press Operator’s work is complete and to specific requirements.

3. All set up’s are completed in a timely fashion and to specific requirements on the drawings and work order.

4. Parts are properly identified and delivered to correct department.

5. Follow all safety procedures, including use or equipment and safety devices, to ensure safe working condition for self and co-workers.

6. Ensure cleanliness of work area and equipment.

7. Assist Foreman in training employees when required.

**Education and Training**
A Brake Press Set up employee, at minimum, is required to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Human Resources can determine if education and experiences are considered “equivalent”.

Previous Brake experience will be considered an asset.

A three (3) month training period will be requested to obtain full duties of this position.

Fork lift truck training.
