We are looking for a Vice President of People & Talent to collaborate with a motivated team of executives and help drive our business forward.

About the Job

We are looking for a Vice President People & Talent to establish and maintain a world class company culture and be our partner as we scale the business and make our mark on the world stage. Reporting to our COO, you will partner closely with the executive and leadership team to improve our processes and ensure we are following best practices for communication, org design, and strategic planning. You will also lead the People and Talent team (currently a team of 3) and help them establish and meet their objectives.
- Please note the preference for this role is located remotely from anywhere in Canada or in our beautiful head office in Victoria, BC_

Some tasks you’ll be taking on
- Champion Checkfront’s values and foster a values driven organization
- Develop a multi-year DEIB strategy and roadmap; you will be responsible for an inclusive environment with an emphasis on equity, belonging, and accessibility
- Develop a People & Talent strategy that aligns with our mission and business objectives
- Understand the power and importance of a data and metrics focused strategy
- Partner with our COO and Chief of Staff in ensuring OKR methodology is adopted successfully throughout the organization
- Own everything People & Talent, including but not limited to: talent acquisition, performance enablement, diversity & inclusion, engagement, learning & development, total rewards, etc.
- Streamline a forward-thinking performance management process that promotes excellence and drives ongoing, multi-directional feedback
- Build scalable professional development programs that aid in growing the team’s employee capabilities and promote career progression
- Analyze the existing total compensation package and plan for a scalable future compensation strategy
- Lead the team in rolling out pay transparency
- Act as a people partner to fellow senior leadership, advising on key topics
- Continuously develop our employer brand and ensure public visibility of our workplace culture and opportunities
- Harness our existing culture and values when building out internal people-related policies and procedures
- Contribute to any mergers, acquisitions, or funding activities by conducting the due diligence process along with ensuring best practices for change management
- Craft a hybrid working strategy that ensures inclusion for in person and remote workers
- Advise the executive team on relevant compliance and employment law and introduce best practices to protect the organization
- Lead through inspiring, mentoring, and coaching your team
- Keep a pulse on the most innovative people practices

Ideally, you should have
- 5+ years in an executive or senior leadership position
- 10+ years in the field of Human Resources
- CPHR or equivalent certification or education
- Emotional intelligence - understand, use, and manage your emotions in a positive way
- Strong interpersonal skills such as empathy and authenticity
- Great communication skills - written, verbal and non-verbal
- A strong background in business - the ability to quickly learn how our company operates and measures success
- Well-rounded expertise across all general areas of HR, including Organizational Design, Workforce Planning, Diversity and Inclusion, Employee Experience, Talent and Performance Management, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, and Employment Law.
