**Who We Are**:
Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.

**Job Overview**:
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Special Events Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of all public events. It will also include conceptualizing event themes, managing event budgets, fostering partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and supervising a team of event coordinators.

Event Planning and Execution
- Lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of special events from inception to completion
- Develop event concepts, themes, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals and target audience interests
- Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, budgeting, and scheduling to ensure smooth event operations
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop comprehensive promotional strategies for each event, including digital marketing, social media campaigns, and traditional advertising
- Oversee all aspects of event production, including setup, staffing, signage, and technical requirements
- Oversee the budget and assign budget allocations to the Special Events Coordinators to manage for each event
- Manage event timelines and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the planning and execution phases
- Oversee the execution of the Event Committees established for various special events
- Collaborate closely with Volunteer Resources to maintain consistent communication and cooperation regarding volunteer needs for special events
- Liaise with the Fund Development to ensure that donor and sponsorship needs are met for events
- Evaluate the success of each event to remain agile and adaptable, leveraging insights to refine future event strategies and enhance audience engagement
- Other duties as required

Audience Engagement and Experience
- Ensure that each event delivers a memorable and engaging experience for attendees, incorporating entertainment, education, and interactivity elements
- Solicit feedback from attendees and stakeholders to improve event quality and relevance continuously.
- Implement innovative strategies to enhance audience participation and interaction before, during, and after events

People Leadership and Collaboration
- Oversee event employees, volunteers, and contractors, providing guidance and support to ensure effective teamwork and task execution
- Foster a collaborative working environment by communicating clearly, delegating responsibilities, and recognizing team contributions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to align event objectives with broader organizational initiatives
- Manage and direct Special Event Coordinators, delegating tasks and responsibilities as needed
- Conduct regular check-ins and provide feedback to ensure that Special Event Coordinators are meeting performance expectations and achieving objectives
- Mentor and support Special Event Coordinators in their professional development, offering guidance and opportunities for growth within the organization

- Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
