**The Opportunity**:
We are seeking **Junior Radiation Protection Technicians **to join our team. You will be part of a highly skilled and ever-growing team of individuals who have helped pioneer some of the first ever long-term radiological storage sites in Canadian history. Your skills and work will help shape the restoration of both public and private land for future Canadians to enjoy all while developing your career in the field of radiation safety. _Much of this work is expected to be outdoors. _

This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the **Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) **. The PHAI represents the federal government’s response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.

**A day in the life**:

- You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the site’s radiation protection program.
- You will measure gamma radiation fields.
- You will measure surface contamination using either radiation detectors or swipe sampling.
- You will manage personal dosimeters for the workforce.
- You will deploy radon monitors and ensure calibration of all radiation detection equipment.
- You will analyze and summarize routine data for compilation into routine reports.
- You will ensure compliance with site radiation safety procedures by workers and visitors.
- You will support the RP management and site management teams.You will support site activities by promptly responding to requests for RP services.

**What you'll bring to WSP...**
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in nuclear engineering, radiation protection or health physics (or related field) preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of radiation safety principles consistent with their background and training.
- Ability to sort, compile and summarize routine data using typical Microsoft Office products such as Excel.
- Perform all assigned tasks diligently and thoroughly assuring complete and accurate documentation as required.
- Eligible for CNL Reliability Status ( _individual _**_must _**_have 3 full years of verifiable current history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia to be eligible _).
