In collaboration with the Director of Care, the **Clinical Best Practice Manager** will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing care and delivery in keeping with the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, O. Reg. 246/22, accreditation standards, quality management, other legislative requirements, and policies and procedures of Sharon Village Care Homes.

The Clinical Best Practice Manager reports to the Director of Care and is responsible for aspects of operations within the Nursing Department, as assigned, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and services to persons served and their families while promoting a culture where employees can thrive and do their best.

The Clinical Best Practice Manager works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure all individualized needs are met for the safety and well-being of the person served.

The Clinical Best Practice Manager is responsible to ensure persons served receive support, care, and services in keeping with his/her/their needs and choices and are carried out in accordance with the FLTCA, 2021 & O. Reg 246/22 and other legislative requirements,

The Clinical Best Practice Manager will support and demonstrate Sharon Village Care Home’s mission, vision, and values and make every effort to ensure that the provisions of the Residents’ Bill of Rights are practiced without exception.

The Clinical Best Practice Manager shall serve as a coach and mentor to all employees of the home, leading by example to inspire and motivate every individual to recognize the value they bring to the lives of persons served, and their families.

The Clinical Best Practice Manager may assume responsibility for the Home in the absence of the Director of Care.

**Key Priorities**:

- Participates in the recruitment, orientation, development, evaluation, discipline and termination of nursing team members as required
- Leads/oversees the required nursing programs and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure all components of the required programs are implemented.
- Participate in Quality Improvement/Risk Management and department meetings.
- Plan and facilitate in house education as required to team members related to required programs
- Ensures and promotes the provision of person-centred care and services to meet the individualized needs of persons served
- Contributes to operational plans for the effective operation of the nursing department. Delegates responsibility to nursing staff based on clearly defined lines of authority and communication
- Participates in the implementation of an effective quality and risk management system for the nursing department to ensure legislative regulations and standards are met. Participates in strategic planning and accreditation activities
- Use quality tools to assist in determining root cause of issues and subsequent plans of improvement initiatives
- Fosters effective interpersonal relationships between persons served, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Monitors and evaluates that nursing staff are compliant with the organization's policies and procedures and Ministry standards
- Works in collaboration with the IPAC Coordinator to ensure that nursing staff is compliant with all IPAC measures.
- Collaborates with other department Managers/Coordinators to ensure specific needs are being addressed in the Plan of Care.
- Ensures that all documentation requirements are being met by nursing staff
- Makes recommendations to DOC for policy changes or development and may assist in the development, implementation and teaching
- Recommends to the Director of Care the purchasing of nursing equipment and other supplies as required.
- Participates in Nursing Committee Meetings, Quality Improvement Meetings, and other applicable department and facility meetings
- Collaborates with persons served and families on an ongoing basis
- Performs other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Current certificate of competence as a Registered Nurse from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
- At least 1-2 years working within a supervisory role in Long-Term Care is preferred
- Postgraduate studies in nursing or gerontologic nursing is desirable
- IPAC education and experience is desirable
- Knowledge of the RAI-MDS process is desirable
- Current CPR
