**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:
The Lead, Training Standards supports the Learning & Development department in meeting their
quality and risk management needs through development and implementation of appropriate
strategic business processes, policies, procedures, and systems for effective and efficient
business operations. They support the implementation of training programs and initiatives by
verifying policy conformance and standard requirements, including contractors.

The core work encompasses five key areas:
1. Policies and procedures: Maintain a suite of appropriate policies and procedures that guide the
implementation of training programs and covers roles and responsibilities across the company
and for contractors. Responsible to ensure alignment with our training policies and procedures to
other BC Hydro policies, procedures and systems. Recommend changes in policies and
procedures to remain effective, efficient, reliable, relevant and agile. Develop and maintain the
training business processes and roles and accountabilities at all levels of the business. As well as
being the lead for the development and sustainment of Element 6 Training & Competency as part
of our Safety Health Management System. Also acts as the go-to person for inquiries about our
training policies and procedures. Works with Contingent Labour Resource Augmentation (CLRA)
to develop, implement and sustain policies and process related to contractor training.

2. Compliance & quality assurance reviews: This role is responsible monitoring and verifying
compliance with our training governance framework. As such, this role will audit training programs
and initiatives to verify policy conformance as well as being a committee member to proactively
ensure alignment. For example, conduct risk-based reviews of training programs, processes and
projects implemented by their customers to verify compliance with training policies and standards
and other requirements. Recommend changes in practices to enhance compliance and work with
training staff to implement change. Recommend updates to policies and standards based on
stakeholder feedback and best practices to better serve training needs of the business.
- 3. Reporting: Support the training function with a monitoring and reporting framework to facilitate
- efficient and effective reporting and communication for training organization. This includes support
- the Safety Accountability Meeting committee with the development and maintenance of a training
- governance structure, policies, procedure and processes. Review enterprise training related
- performance results with the Safety Accountability Meeting (e.g. audit findings, incident outcomes
- and trends) and facilitate recommended action on x-plan work in relation to emerging business
- priorities and needs. Prepare various strategic and tactical reports in collaboration with Safety
- Systems and Analytics. Be the lead on any internal audits for Learning & Development.
- Communicate audit findings to appropriate stakeholders; monitor recommendations
- implementation and facilitate close out of action items.
- 4. System Support: Implement and sustain a learning management system for contractors to
- access BC Hydro specific content. Responsible for quality control and assurance of records
- entered and ongoing record management within the system. Responsible to ensure processes
- and procedures in place to ensure system integrity/functionality, analytics and communications.
- Learning and Development Project Management:
- Chair of the Enterprise Training Leads (14 members) from across the company to discuss

projects and ideas that impact enterprise-wide training.- Engages with members to prepare the agenda, distributes calendar invites, prepares agenda

and slides for approval by Manager, Training Services.- Facilitates quarterly meeting.
- Develops and maintains Terms of Reference.
- Acts as a liaison between the Training Systems team and other relevant stakeholders to plan,

prioritize and execute projects related to training systems (Learning Management Systems and
