**CONSULTANT, FINANCE & GRANTS**

**RESEARCH AND ACADMIC INNOVATION**

Reporting to the Vice Dean, Research & Academic Innovation, this position supports all Research & Academic Innovation (RAI) departments, including units dedicated to research, quality assurance, program development, faculty development and inclusive leadership. The position is accountable for tracking, forecasting, and reporting project and program funds in RAI, developing and maintaining divisional processes, as well as directly supporting divisional-, departmental
- and project-level planning and budgeting. The position is also responsible for tracking and reporting of federal and provincial research funding, assessing expenditures for grant compliance, and preparing federal and provincial grant reporting.

**HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**
- Coordinate and support annual RAI budget planning in collaboration with managers, project managers, Vice Dean and Dean.
- Track RAI expenditures and prepare quarterly forecasts and journal entries in consultation with managers.
- Collaborate with Finance department to track research income across the organization.
- Track grant expenditures and collaborate with project leads to build financial management capacity, ensure compliance with grant/funder requirements, and identify potential risks.
- Develop and implement new business processes, including for cost analysis, annual budgets, project budgets, and tracking of research indirect and overhead costs.
- Prepare external funder reports for grants and contracts, including determining appropriate alignments for different reporting structures.
- Complete other federal, provincial, and institutional reporting as needed.
- Supervise casual staff and/or co-op students.

**WHAT YOU BRING**
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a finance-related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in finance and/or administration.
- Experience managing research grant finances and preparing government research funding is a major asset.
- Experience in a post-secondary or government environment is an asset.
- Experience working with PeopleSoft.
- Expertise and demonstrated leadership developing, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting complex budgets with varied requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of cost analysis.
- Experience with government reporting is an asset.
- Experience with process development and improvement is a major asset.
