Krackers Katering is a social enterprise that was created to achieve both social and economic objectives. Krackers is staffed by individuals who have experienced barriers to employment, including people with mental illness and other challenges. Since 1999, Krackers has grown into a successful social enterprise where over 150 people have gained substantive training and work experience enabling them to move on to other employment opportunities in the community.
In addition to enjoying delicious and competitively priced food, Krackers' customers receive the added value of knowing that they are giving back to their community with each order they purchase.
**Working Conditions**
Working with people with mental illness or other disabilities and those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Standard work hours for this position are 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, however work schedule **will include** evenings and weekends from time to time.
**About the Role**
We are currently looking for a full-time Krackers Katering Kitchen Supervisor. This position will be responsible for supervising Krackers Katering staff at the direction of the Operations Manager.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Plan, organize and direct daily kitchen duties as outlined by the Operations Manager.
- Ensure catering and service orders are prepared and delivered as per the details of each contract.
- Train and support Krackers Katering staff
- Contribute to the expansion and development of catering and service menus, emphasizing modern, healthy and delicious food, including vegetarian and vegan options, with special attention made to nutritional and dietary restrictions such as gluten-free and dairy-free
- Complete administrative duties as assigned
- Working with vulnerable client-populations including those struggling with mental health, disability, and other barriers to employment
- Social media marketing at the direction of the Operations Manager
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Excellent knowledge and love of food
- Ability to keep up-to-date with current trends in the industry with a focus on healthy options
- Minimum of 2 years cooking experience (catering specific considered an asset)
- Extremely well-organized with attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Understanding of social enterprises and their role in building inclusive communities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Patience and the ability to communicate directions clearly and concisely
- Criminal record check (Completed before start-date)
- Driver’s license (full ‘G’ driving privileges) and drivers abstract required
- Safe food handler’s certification required
- First aid and CPR certification considered an asset
- Smart serve certification considered an asset
- Experience with social media marketing considered an asset.
