The **Brief Therapy Specialist Clinician** is responsible for providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate brief therapy services to families on the Family Therapy Services waitlist. This includes clinical assessment, brief therapy services (up to 6 sessions), consultation, psychoeducation, referrals and recommendations for further clinical work. This position liaises with the Family Therapy Services (FTS) Intake team as well as external systems to address immediate needs and increase stability within the family system. **Related Responsibilities & Duties include**:

- Receives referrals for brief family therapy from the Family Therapy Services Intake team
- Conducts comprehensive assessments to mutually determine immediate needs and goals of families
- Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of cultural diversity and engages in efforts to improve cultural equity and inclusion to effectively serve individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities and integrates this knowledge into assessment, consultation, and support services.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and builds relationships with other community resources as required for connecting families to relevant supports.
- Demonstrates ability to appropriately assess and address potential risk and safety concerns including liaising with external systems.
- Provides trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate brief clinical supports to families (who are actively parenting children/youth under the age of 18 years) on the Family Therapy Services waitlist.
- Works collaboratively with collaterals, community resources, and professionals from different disciplines to address acute concerns and increase supports for families while they wait for longer-term service.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and builds relationships with other community resources as required for connecting families to relevant supports.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of, and commitment to ethical practice within a clinical setting.
- Maintains all related documentation and paperwork

**Qualifications Include**:

- Master's degree in clinical field (e.g., MSW, MMFT) or an equivalent advanced degree/certification in a clinical discipline.
- Be certified to practice in their discipline within the Province of Manitoba, by being accredited by a Provincial or National licensing body associated with the clinical discipline and in good standing (e.g., AAMFT, CAMFT, MB College of Social Workers).
- Clinical experience working with families and children and the ability to deliver family (and group) psychotherapy, with a trauma-informed understanding of behaviours as adaptive coping responses and neurobiological patterns
- An awareness of cross-cultural factors that impact the healing/recovery process, including inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous and settler communities.
- The ability to work effectively within in a systemic framework and familiarity with attachment theory and related interventions as well as play-based interventions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities and skills to work with families and children with disabilities.
- Experience working with clients involved with multiple systems.
- Willingness to engage in community partnerships.
- Completion of the Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Facilitator training is an asset.
- Comfort in regular use of Microsoft Office products

The salary range for this part-time, 28-hour biweekly position is $36.95 to $45.81 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience.
