- St. Joseph’s Hospice is a charitable organization providing compassionate care and companionship to palliative clients, their caregivers and the bereaved recognizing their unique needs._
**Role Overview**
Under the direction of the Director, Community Engagement & Development, this role is responsible for the development of individual, corporate and foundation partnerships, primarily at the Major Gift level ($5,000+), and generating revenue in support of Hospice’s strategic goals.
The Development Officer is a highly energetic, donor-centric professional who will work within a current development plan to support programs and services at St. Joseph’s Hospice. This will involve continuing partnerships with committed individual, corporate and foundation donors as well as developing new relationships.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Build and manage relationships with donors and prospects through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship to ensure annual fundraising goals are achieved.
- Identify and build a pipeline of donors through cultivation meetings and/or conducting prospect research.
- Create strategies and proposals to present to potential donors.
- Create stewardship plans to ensure donors and community partners are kept engaged and recognized for their gifts.
- Determine when to solicit foundations or other funding sources in alignment with priority projects and/or initiatives across the organization.
- Work closely with and engage volunteers.
- Active member of the Major Gift Committee or other volunteer committee that is created to advance Major Gift fundraising.
- Collaborate with the Director, Community Engagement & Development and fund development team in the integration and management of donor events.
- Provide creative ideas for ways to engage with our supporters in an increasingly meaningful way.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing a portfolio of donors with a proven record of obtaining gifts and meeting established targets.
- Experience in creating and presenting compelling proposals to donors.
- Experience planning cultivation and stewardship events.
- Ability to establish strong, sustainable relationships.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to engage donors.
- Ability to work appropriately and effectively with a variety of important and high-level constituents.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to identify and manage multiple priorities.
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising database tools
- Research skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, diplomacy, sensitivity to confidential information, and sound judgment.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team environment, as well as, independently
- Commitment to excellence in the donor experience.
- Must possess reliable personal transportation and be approved by insurance carrier to drive personal vehicle.
