Compensation Range

Job Summary

This Public Health Agency of Canada funded research project,
_Promoting adolescent mental health through policy: Refining and testing a multi-level intervention to promote individual and population mental health through youth-engaged policymaking_, employs a “mental health promotion” framework to support the processes that engage young people in the development of new policies to strengthen young peoples’ mental health outcomes. We are seeking an individual to fill a short-term position (12 months) as a Program Coordinator. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with youth co-researchers and the research project team and be responsible for the training of youth aged 15-25 and adult mentors in an intervention that will build their capacity to engage in policymaking processes. The Program Coordinator will bring expertise in youth engagement, education, training, policy advocacy and evaluation to refine the intervention for broader uptake. In addition, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for identifying the learning needs of participants and developing new and innovative methods of delivery to meet those needs.

Organizational Status

The Program Coordinator will report directly to the PI, Emily Jenkins, Associate Professor, School of Nursing. The Program Coordinator will also work directly with the Project Coordinator, and members of the project Advisory Group and other provincial and national partners that may be involved. Community-based youth collaborators and adult mentors will report to the Program Coordinator or the Project Coordinator.

Work Performed

1. Intervention Training and Development

Lead the training and supervision of youth collaborators and community-based facilitators in multiple sites using a “train-the-trainer”/coaching approach Implement and coordinate the delivery of the intervention in collaboration with project site partners and the research team Oversee the community-based facilitators, providing training, assistance, and supervision to the youth collaborators/adult facilitators, including the use of multimedia software, to deliver the intervention in multiple sites Collaborate with the project team, youth collaborators and community partners to develop plans, strategies, partnerships and other ideas to meet the emerging needs in various implementation sites Provide educational expertise to guide refinements to intervention content tailored to the needs and interests of the sites Develop and write intervention marketing and learning materials and assist with manuscript preparation on project findings Identify areas for innovation and new programming for the intervention Ensure effective collaboration with research team, community experts, and other stakeholders Work with the PI and Project Coordinator to revise the project work plan as needed to achieve project deliverables Participate in advisory committee and partner meetings to provide engagement and intervention expertise and project updates where appropriate

a. Develop project plans to disseminate project findings to youth and other stakeholder audiences

3. Evaluation

Assist with the administration of intervention evaluation, including data entry and analysis of evaluation data Contribute to the development of reports and publications based on these data
