**Overview**:
Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Business Partner, the Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for leading and coaching the Joint Health and Safety members at various locations across Ontario, ensuring adherence to regulations, and fostering a culture of safety and compliance. This role requires a proactive approach to managing safety performance, implementing policies and procedures, conducting inspections and audits, investigating incidents, and providing training to employees.
Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Business Partner, the Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for:
- Investigate accidents and incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Additionally, the role entails completing Form 7 and collaborating with WSIB case management and workplace specialists to ensure a smooth return-to-work process.
- Lead and coach Joint Health and Safety members to effectively manage safety performance and drive continuous improvement in all Tepperman’s locations.
- Work with managers, supervisors, and leadership team members to build and drive a culture of safety and compliance through various initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.
- Design and implement safety governance, including standard operating procedures and functional safety plans to address process requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety matters, including conducting safety-training programs and ensuring their effective implementation.
- Prepare safety training materials and maintain training records to ensure compliance.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards, programmatic gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about relevant legislation and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
- Develop and maintain external relationships and alliances with government bodies and industry associations, supporting regulatory outreach and liaising with regulatory agencies for resolution of issues.
