**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:
- Reporting to the Director, Learning and Development, the Manager, Training Operations is
- responsible for overseeing the business planning and administrative support of the Learning and
- Development (L&D) team, and apprentice/ trainee program administration. The position is also
- accountable for managing the day-to-day and long-term operations of the Trades Training Centre
- (TTC). The TTC is the only Red Seal school in BC certified by SkilledTradesBC for BC Hydro’s
- Apprentice Powerline Technician training program which allows BC Hydro to train external
- apprentices.
- Key accountabilities:
- Leads business planning and reporting activities for L&D. This includes L&D’s dashboard and
action plans, framework, Board report, annual business plan and coordinating and authoring
- L&D’s Revenue Rate Application (RRA) activities.- Manages a team that currently consists of eight (8) direct reports; one M&P and seven MoveUp.
- Oversees the day-today and long-term operations of the TTC facility both as a training facility
and a headquarter for most L&D staff. This includes space optimization planning based on BC
- Hydro’s business needs and training facility best practices. It also includes scheduling of the
- facility and maintaining accreditation with federal agencies so external students can access
- funding. Oversees timely completion of annual TTC safety requirements.- Ensures resources are assigned to manage asset maintenance cycle at TTC assets.
- Manages the OMA budget for the Training Operations department and the capital budget for the
TTC.- Establishes, maintains, and oversees centralized and full-cycle training program administration
- support for multi-year apprentice and trainee programs (from orientation to graduation).- Liaises with Training Program Leads for various reasons such as contract service levels, ensure
adequate training program administration support and to maintain service levels for use of the
- TTC.- Ensures centralized resources support L&D’s Hydroweb, Hydroshare, J: Drive and related
document management requirements - this includes assigning a Web Lead to oversee all L&D’s
- Hydroweb pages.- Assigns resources to support L&D’s service contract, material requisition, sundry billing, and
general administrative support activities - this includes administration of centralized inboxes and
- switchboard and issue course feedback surveys.- Coordinates monthly team meetings and professional development sessions for Training
Operations team.- Works collaboratively with the L&D management team and other stakeholders and conducts
stakeholder needs assessment to develop solutions in response to complex and sensitive queries.- Acts as Facility Safety Lead delegate.
**Qualifications**:

- 10+ years' experience in business development and contract administration, or similar
experience in a regulated or comparable industry to BC Hydro.- A university degree or diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a people leader role within the past five (5) years.
Experience managing administrative roles is an asset.- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex
information simply and summarize key facts for decision makers.- Excellent relationship management, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
