Role:


The Manager, IT Operations is responsible for team leadership of corporate infrastructure and service desk tiers 1, 2 and 3 level support across the organization.

The role is accountable for the design, proposal, and maintenance of a stable IT environment globally that allows users to do their work in the most efficient way possible.

This position will coordinate IT Operations to collaborate with the business, stakeholders and internal IT teams to deliver a stable, secure IT environment that meets the business expectations for the best value.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides management, leadership, and oversight of the IT Operations functions, which includes the Service Delivery/Help Desk and Infrastructure teams.
  • Collaborate with VP, Business Systems and the business to formulate and deploy longterm strategic plans.
  • Manage IT Operations department operational and strategic plans including setting priorities based on business requirements including planning, organizing the allocation of resources.
  • Manage IT Operations staffing including recruitment, supervision, development, evaluation actions.
  • Has leadership and oversight for enhancing, updating, and leading the communication of IT policies and procedures to the organization.
  • Ensures employees have access to IT resources and is high quality, with SLAs adhered to.
  • Operates as the business owner for the implementation of IT Infrastructure and Services projects and plans including Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Prepares financial budgets for CAPEX and OPEX for functional areas.
  • Project coordination for internal IT initiatives.
  • Oversight and management of project managers/consultants/contractors responsible for projects within IT Operations scope.
  • Performs product research and selection, followed by procurement of hardware and software, and manages licenses and subscriptions.
  • Periodically reviews the performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity and upgrade requirements and where identified proposes global infrastructure design.
  • Maintains vendor relationships for key initiatives and investments to ensure organizational support.
  • Maintains security of the IT systems inpartnership with the Cyber Security function.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a stable infrastructure, actively monitors for problems, identifies recurring problems and directs corrective and preventative action.
  • Acts as an escalation point for business and IT operations, provides third level support as needed, escalates unresolved issues if need be, to the Vice President, Business Systems.
  • Development and guidance of business continuity requirements and implements including architecture, security, purchasing, provisioning, maintenance.
  • Ensures the daytoday administration of IT services including but not limited to On-Premise, Public Cloud, VMware, Citrix, and Windows server environment functions.
  • Ensures the daytoday administration of the company's WAN, wired and wireless networks in all plants and facilities across Canada.
  • Oversees the regular monitoring of the IT operating environment with careful consideration and management of relevant KPIs.
  • Ensures that all direct reports employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates expectations to direct reports including consulting and contract resources, manages performance, and provides leadership and support to team members.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in IT, computer science or similar from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an IT Infrastructure or Operations role environment, with at least 7 years of team leadership.
  • Understanding of Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Understanding of Help Desk technology including Active Directory, Intune.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure technology including onpremise, Cloud, virtual, physical, disaster recovery and core IT services.
  • Proven track record leading or participating in cloud migration projects from onpremise to Microsoft Azure.
