**HR Student Placement (3 positions)**

**Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC)** **is Southeastern Ontario’s largest acute-care academic hospital**. Consisting of our Hotel Dieu Hospital site and Kingston General Hospital site, as well as the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario and two research institutes, we care for more than 500,000 patients and families from across our region. **We are pleased to provide a placement in the following area for the January to April 2025 period**:
The HR Student will perform a variety of tasks, exposing the student to the various functions of the specific department chosen for their placement.

The HR Student applies an understanding of human resource fundamentals combined with strong organizational skills, to efficiently and effectively manage tasks and processes being delegated by the department.

**HR Planning & Performance - Total Rewards**:provides Compensation, Benefits and HRIS services. Through designing best practices, continuous quality improvement, and fostering patient centered care, we strive to create a cohesive approach to providing a seamless HR experience for employees and managers. The Total Rewards team provides quality and timely service to employees and managers regarding all matters related to compensation, benefits, insurances, and pension. Total Rewards also assists managers and employees with onboarding new hires, employee transfers, leaves of absences, terminations, and retirements. The HR Student Placement will have a primary focus on compensation, job evaluation and job design working directly with the Total Compensation Advisor.

**Recruitment Services**: focuses on the intake, flow and optimization of our employees. We work across all of our operational sites alongside our business partners to strategically plan and understand the needs of our operations teams to fulfil our commitment to patient centred care. We are committed to providing information and processes that translate to solutions to our business partners to ensure our departments are staffed and operating at optimal levels to serve our community. The HR Student Placement will be assigned a specific project working directly with the Recruitment Advisor and Associate. _Placement is at the Kingston General Hospital site - Hybrid (KGH site/Remote)._

**Volunteer Services**: recruits, screens, orients, trains, and supports qualified volunteers to enhance care delivery. This department aligns volunteer opportunities with patient and family needs while ensuring that volunteer contributions are relevant and meaningful to both the organization and the volunteer. Volunteers at the Hotel Dieu Hospital site, Kingston General Hospital site, the Eating Disorders Day Treatment Program, and Detox program connect with patients, support family members, complement the high quality care of professional staff, and help raise funds toward the purchase of much needed hospital equipment and patient comfort items.

The HR Student Placement will have an opportunity to work on projects such as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion review, explore how to measure the impact of volunteer roles, determine statistics around engagement and retention, develop satisfaction surveys, and work on updating the Volunteer Services recruitment strategy. The department is launching a new software package in January 2025 and will be onboarding and training a significant number of post-secondary volunteers.
- Through this placement opportunity, the successful applicant will have the ability to touch on all core aspects of Human Resources while assisting to lead and complete a project specific to benefits and insurances._

**Requirements**:

- Students in the third year of the Business Administration Human Resources Program
- Students in the Business Administration Human Resources Fast Track Program
