Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is responsible for the effective management of all HR functions for the firm and its 70+ people, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, performance management, training and development, employee communications and special projects.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, coordinate and deliver proactive human resources programs, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies and procedures in order to reduce related corporate risks.
- Build strong relationships with the Managing Partners, Partners and all employees utilizing proactive, cooperative and collaborative problem-solving approaches.
- Develop a good understanding of the business and the ways in which good HR practices can support the business.
- Maintain and enhance an effective recruitment strategy to attract qualified and talented lawyers, law clerks and administrative staff.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment including attending interviews, processing employment contracts and conducting employee on-boarding.
- Manage payroll and benefit systems. Communicate benefit programs to employees, support employees with processing of claims, work with benefits consultant to obtain and evaluate benefit contract bids.
- Liaising with educational institutions for recruitment of co-op students and intern students
- Communicate and encourage training and development opportunities to ensure a competent workforce.
- Managing the off-boarding process for both voluntary and involuntary terminations.
- Oversee performance management processes and programs.
- Ensure employee records are maintained and up to date.
- Additional responsibilities and projects as required.

**Qualifications**:

- University degree or college diploma with a focus on Human Resources is required.
- CHRP or CHRL designation is required.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar role is required, ideally in a professional services firm.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to influence others, resolve conflict and play a leadership role in change initiatives by exercising tact, diplomacy and respect for others.
- Experience in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment
- Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
- Highly motivated with a proven aptitude to tackle various projects, strong prioritization and re-prioritization skills.
- Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel. Experience with Payworks an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
