There is a new and exciting opportunity in Edmonton for a Safety Administrator at Gateway Mechanical Services

**This is a 12 month contract position (maternity leave coverage) with the possibility of extension**

Founded in 1968, Gateway Mechanical is a privately owned company that has established itself as a leader in the commercial and industrial refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning industry (HVACR). Attending to 40,000+ service calls per year, Gateway is the largest HVAC & Refrigeration service provider in Western Canada. Our model is comprised of local branch teams with fully qualified personnel representing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing/gas fitting, sheet metal, and electrical trades. These teams are supported by centers of excellence including professional engineers and project managers which ensures Gateway’s full technical capability is available for every project and service call.

The Safety Administrator at Gateway Mechanical Services provides safety support and administration to the entire organization and is accountable for contributing to the success of the overall health and safety program. Primary duties include working with all team members to create and maintain a safe workplace through proactive safety communication, safety initiatives, and statistical safety information.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide safety support to supervisors, site staff and employees
- Monitor and and respond to employee safety inquires
- Book and coordinate safety training and A&D testing to meet departmental and site requirements
- Effectively communicate health and safety program requirements and initiatives
- Maintain safety information on Share Point for internal resource
- Provide support to COR Auditing and other safety audits for multiple provinces
- Prepare of various safety team meetings
- Research, review, modify and maintain the health and safety program
- Stay up to date with changes to provincial safety legislation
- Assist with the development and communication of safe job procedures and safe work practices
- Provide safety information and reports to Leadership Team
- Prepare and review health and safety performance data to identify trends and assist in the development and delivery of programs designed to improve corporate health and safety performance
- Create Health and Safety training programs
- Design safety forms
- Demonstrate an understanding of internal and external customer requirements and provide quality service
- Provide vacation coverage for the HR and Safety team as needed
- Other various assignments as requested

**Requirements**:

- 1-3 years experience in a safety/construction role
- Intermediate to advanced level of Microsoft Office products
- Experience using safety and learning management softwares such as SiteDocs and Bistrainer
- Familiarity working with pre-qualifiaction sites such as ISNetworld, Complyworks, Avetta, or Contractor Check
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Positive attitude and desire for continuous improvement for self and the organization
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy, reliability, and willingness to take initiative
- Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to multi task and effectively manage several projects simultaneously
- Valid class 5 drivers license
- Must be able to pass a criminal records check

**Additional Desirable Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in safety, construction or another related field
- Provincial Health and Safety Administrator designation
