The Office of the Vice-Provost (Academic Programs) provides academic leadership across campus, facilitating curricular and academic policy development for undergraduate programs. **Responsibilities**:
The graduate tutor in Pre-Degree Math will implement weekly to biweekly tutoring sessions to support ISSAP students during the 2024/2025 school year. The role will require expertise in the following Math pre-requisite courses: Math 0110 (Introduction to Math Calculus) which the current student cohort is taking in person. The graduate tutor will need to work very closely with the ISSAP Academic Advisor in scheduling hours of supports and active collaborative sessions to make sure students are successful in their virtual courses. Consequently, the role also contributes to the unit's goals around eliminating barriers of education as well as increasing academic supports for ISSAP students during their one year journey. Crucial responsibilities include:

- Work very closely with the ISSAP Academic Advisor (Office of Academic Programs) and the Manager of Indigenous Admissions (Office of the ISC), to schedule sessions and implement instructional tutoring opportunities either in one on one settings or in groups settings
- Work collaboratively with the Indigenous Student Center, and faculty of Science on Careers and Professional experience to effectively develop skills in working with systemically marginalized communities.
- Work closely with the ISSAP Academic Advisor and Manager Admissions within the Indigenous Student Center in developing workshops for success with ISSAP students while supporting their challenges and celebrating their progress and successes.

Professional Qualifications and Education:

- Minimum Required:

- Graduate level degree in a Math specialization with extensive experience in post secondary calculus
- Experience working with university students
- Experienced with the pre-degree Math at the secondary school level
- Empathetic and patient
- Knowledge in the following areas: differential calculus, limits, continuity, definition of derivative, rules for differentiation, velocity, acceleration, related rates, maxima and mínima, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, differentiations of exponential and logarithmic functions, curve sketching.
- Knowledge of pre-calculus foundations: factoring algebraic expressions into simpler expressions, knowledgeable on solving algebraic equations, in particular monic quadratic equations, able to identify the domain of a function which is expressed with an algebraic formula in the input, familiar with polynomial long division, able to simplify expressions using logarithmic properties, familiar with using Use SOH CAH TOA to determine trigonometric values from a given value of sine, cosine, or tangent
- High degree of professionalism and knowledge of conflict resolution/management theory and practices
- Outstanding relationship building skills and ability to manage relationships with students
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to coach students through tutoring
