Communitech is a hybrid organization headquartered in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. In-person connection is important to us, so we get together regularly for special events, collaboration days and team socials, and we ask our team members to work onsite from our Kitchener facility for a minimum of 2 days a week, every Tuesday being our team-wide in person collaboration day. We are a flexible, people first environment and want to allow our people to make decisions and choices about where they work to support work life balance within clear guidelines.
**Social Media Specialist**
Help tell important stories about and engage with our ecosystem of tech on a local, national and global scale, in new, old and interesting ways. We wear a lot of hats at Communitech, and yes, sometimes even goat hats (long story), which means we’re never bored. We love to dabble in a lot of different projects and collaborate with each other to come up with ideas that are fun for us to create and for our audiences to experience.
**What You’ll be Doing**- Effectively manage, monitor and elevate Communitech’s social media properties (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook).- Produce lively and engaging copy for all scenarios (including print and social)- Confidently and responsibly engage with Communitech’s key target audiences on social media channels to drive awareness of Communitech’s products and programs.- Create and execute digital communication strategies that drive results.- Support the Communitech team with analytical reporting that accurately track results.- Collaborate with the greater team and Communitech’s network of founders to develop and share important stories about our tech ecosystem.- Be a Communitech ambassador and live our core values day-to-day.
**What You’ll Bring**- You have 3-5 years of professional experience in social media management, digital marketing and/or online community management.- You speak in memes and are a natural storyteller, always on the hunt for engaging content, a breaking news story or the latest viral TikTok trend to share with family and friends.- You can develop a strategic social campaign and are equally comfortable live-posting from an event.- You are intimately familiar with social media management and marketing design tools (i.e. Meltwater, Buffer, Active Campaign, native Facebook tools, Google Analytics, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, etc.).- You should be fluent in social media creative apps like Adobe Express and Canva.- You may have some familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.- You are a self-starter, someone who can run with direction and achieve key results.- You are detail-oriented with a knack for keeping things organized.- You are open to collaborating with a team as well as able to work independently.- You have solid time management skills and can effectively manage shifting priorities.- You are familiar with Communitech and Canada’s tech ecosystem, including startups, scale-ups and large global players with a presence in Waterloo Region.- You are values-driven, enthusiastic and looking for a role with purpose in Canada’s fastest-growing tech ecosystem.
