As a part of our commitment to helping children and families thrive, Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) provides services and support to child care providers and parents East to McBride, North to Mackenzie and West to Burns Lake. We work to enhance the availability and quality of child care services by providing information, support, resources as well as referral services to families and child care providers across our region. Our goal is to continuously improve the accessibility, affordability, and quality of child care in all B.C. communities.

Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) programs enhance and promote the development of child care best practices. You will bring strong leadership and practices that support all children, regardless of ability or geographic location, having access to inclusive, high quality child care. Your leadership will support the CCRR team and its program participants to recognize that children are our future, and quality child care supports the healthy development of all children. You will enthusiastically support the CCRR team to enhance and promote quality child care through supporting providers, providing training, promoting best practices, recruiting providers to the child care field and educating and enabling parents to access resources while recognizing the factors important in a care-giver relationship.
Responsibilities and abilities
- To know, understand and maintain all BC Government CCRR Program Standards
- To know, understand, and maintain all YMCA of Northern BC Policies and Procedures
- To work in collaboration and partnership and maintain positive working relationships with families, other community agencies and service providers
- To ensure all services are provided with cultural humility
- To promote reconciliation with Indigenous peoples
- To provide excellence in delivering customer service and support to those individuals and organizations utilizing the services of the CCRR program
- To provide child care information, consultations and referrals to families
- To register individuals or organizations in workshops, training or networking nights
- Provide budget support through petty cash reconciliation, workshop/course revenue, submit cheque requests - forward to finance
- Maintain database integrity through accurate collection of information
- Maintain database integrity by ensuring information is accurate and delivered according to the standards
- Process new memberships, renewals, changes and overall maintenance of memberships
- Develop child care provider and parent evaluation surveys and ensure they are consistently applied
- Prepare YMCA CCRR forms and documents (i.e. information packages, workshop attendance lists & certificates)
- To provide referrals to community programs, services and resources
- To provide administrative support to the CCRR team as required
- To complete the CCRR newsletter and monthly updates on time
- To work as part of the team and maintain positive communications with staff and other departments
- To maintain regular attendance, punctuality and to be appropriately dressed and well-groomed
- To maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work environment
- Perform other related duties as required and be flexible to a changing work environment
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative assistant role
- Excellent understanding of the Child Care act and regulations
- Experience and/or education working in child care (Asset)
- Experience maintaining & working with databases
- Demonstrate a high level of organizational, administrative, and customer service skills
- Detail oriented while managing multiple tasks at once
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Publisher)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Take initiative and manage time effectively in a fast-paced changing environment
