As a key member of the team, the **Quality & Food Safety Technician** is responsible for supervising the line employees’ work specific to GMPs, Food Safety Programs and Health & Safety Programs. They will act as a member of the plant leadership team and help to build and support a strong culture of safety, efficiency, and quality.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Understands and fulfills all duties within the production area: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), All food safety programs and health & safety programs
- Performs all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of the SQF food safety standards
- Coordinates all sanitation activities as per SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operation Procedure)
- Completing all sanitation and cleaning forms and documentation as required. Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation records.
- Ensures all chemicals used in the cleaning process are mixed with a proper solution according to the standard specifications
- Coordinates with production personnel and other sanitation crew for dismantling of the production line equipment in preparation for cleaning
- Maintains sanitation chemical inventory
- Ensures corrective actions are implemented and followed through
- Collaborate with operations on daily production needs and initiate corrective action and preventative measures when necessary.
- Investigate and follow up on quality and food safety incidents that occur in the plant or with the product.
- Assist in guiding supply chain, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure all relevant customs and food safety policies and procedures are being followed during the procurement of ingredients, movement of ingredients and finished goods, and the fulfillment of orders.
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of various food product certifications including Kosher Certification, Non-GMO Project Verification, Gluten-Free Certification, and HACCP-based programs including GFSI - SQF Code A Certification and Safe Food for Canadians Certification.
- Assist with recall and mock recall exercises and ensure relevant parties are trained, engaged, and notified of recalled products.
- Support Product Development and Innovation pipeline, as required, to ensure packaging and specification compliance.
- Assist with preparation and delivery of reports, presentations, and other quality communications.
- Actively supports risk management activities as it relates to quality, customer, brand, and food safety.
- Support the team with any other projects or duties required to be completed as needed.
- Post-secondary education in Food Science or science-related discipline
- 2+ years’ experience in quality, food safety and sanitation environment
- Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Good communication skills
- Scissor Lift license/ Forklift License is an asset
- Ability to move from one task to another with mínimal supervision
- Flexible to work morning, evening, night shifts, weekends and holidays
