Halifax, Canada Atlantic International Film Festival Full time

**OVERVIEW**:
The Programming Manager will establish and oversee the curatorial and artistic direction for the Atlantic International Film Festival and its year-round screening programs and initiatives. They will work with and provide guidance to a team of contract programmers, pre-screeners and selection committee members.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**:

- Programming_
- Oversee the curation and content delivery of the screening components of all AIFF activities, including but not limited to: the Atlantic International Film Festival, FIN Kids, CBC’s Reel East Coast and FIN Outdoor.
- Delegate and manage the review of all festival submissions with the assistance of the Programming Team.
- Facilitate, develop and mentor the Programming Team.
- Administration and Management_
- Work with the Executive Director on the creation and management of the programming budget.
- Liaise and negotiate with filmmakers, distributors and sales agents.
- Manage all staff in the Festival’s programming department.
- Manage the programming schedule and critical path.
- In collaboration with operations staff oversee venue assignments.
- In collaboration with technical staff, oversee the technical requirements for film delivery and optimal screening venue presentation.
- In collaboration with contract staff oversee the coordination of print-traffic.
- Collaborate with staff and Board on short and long-term strategic planning and review.
- Audience Development and Communications_
- Introduce / host key screenings and Q&As and oversee the overall assignment of film introductions to Programming Team members.
- Prepare program notes and contribute to the marketing and promotion of screenings.
- Develop and nurture relationships with presentation partners, filmmakers and the Atlantic film industry.
- Attend key events & screenings and represent AIFF to the industry and the public.
- Serve as principal spokesperson for all Programs in the media.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 5 years film programming experience.
- Active and demonstrable interest and knowledge of cinema history and culture.
- Knowledge of film festival standards and practices, including a working understanding of presentation technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic environment and with a plethora of stakeholders.
- A demonstrated commitment to upholding professional and ethical standards and an articulated understanding of inclusive and anti-racist practices in the arts.
- Proficient in various computer programs including Excel, Word and Google Drive.
- Commitment to the mission of the Atlantic International Film Festival.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 months

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
