**Working for Student Financial Support**

Student Financial Support in the Office of the Registrar provides $46M each year in scholarships, awards, and financial support to undergraduate students. Student Financial Support also administers need-based financial supports to graduate students. Student Financial Support works closely with the campus community to align financial support programs with the enrolment and strategic priorities of faculties and the university.

**Position**

The Specialist reports to the Assistant Registrar Student Financial Support and is part of the Student Financial Support leadership team, contributing to the development of strategy and key performance measures, and provides expert advice to the Assistant Registrar on policy, process, and procedure to formulate recommendations based on detailed analysis and investigation. The leadership team includes the Assistant Registrar, Manager Operations, Financial Analyst and Specialist roles. This position supports the enrolment goals of the university through the development of processes that align with institutional strategies.

Specialists are responsible for growing and stewarding a cohesive body of knowledge that supports the work of SFS and its stakeholders. SFS Specialists are highly involved in the development and implementation of administrative process and are seen as knowledge experts both inside and outside of the faculty. Specialists will work in collaboration with Enrolment Systems and Service Innovation (ESSI) and other trusted campus stakeholders to continually identify areas to improve SFS systems and processes. Specialists may also assist in the coordination of SFS operations and activities, providing expert policy and business process support to staff.

The Specialist researches and keeps abreast of technology, policy, and procedural changes and articulates proposals to the Assistant Registrar and Manager Operations regarding systems support, policy, procedures, stakeholder interactions and relationships.

**Duties**
- Participates and provides input to unit and overall strategic planning on new initiatives, system developments, and future enhancements pertaining to Student Financial Support financial resource services
- Holds primary responsibility for error resolution for issues related to student financial aid records and issues related to financial transaction, working directly with Student Financial Support leadership staff as appropriate
- Runs system queries and/or reports for monitoring unit work, making recommendations to and finding resolutions
- Develops quality assurance procedures and methods, and implements and evaluates them regularly. Identifies issues and works with the Manager Operations to determine and document which employees may require additional support and training
- Conducts research to upgrade and expand knowledge base and unit procedures and policies with operational and university wide impact. This includes significant work with other units within the Office of the Registrar and within the University community. Areas such as UAPPOL policies, technology interface (BearTracks and PeopleSoft), services across RO units and financial transaction will be central to the effective functioning of Student Financial Support and will require ongoing research

**Minimum Qualifications**
- A post-secondary Degree in a related field (e.g., Adult Education, Management, Public Administration, Education, Leadership, Cognitive Psychology, Psychology of Learning) plus a minimum of three to five years of proven experience working in a university stud
