**Reports to: Housing Services Manager**

**Location: Alliston (primarily), occasional travel to Bradford**

CONTACT Community Services is a not-for profit registered charity that has a long
- standing history of taking a proactive approach to changing social needs in South Simcoe. Our services include: free community information, employment and volunteer services. Our community thrift store, The Clothes Line, offers gently recycled clothing and household goods and provides support to families and individuals in need.

CONTACT serves as the Housing Resource Centre for the South Simcoe catchment area in the County of Simcoe. Our agency provides assistance to people at risk of experiencing homelessness, as well as those experiencing homelessness, along with assistance accessing energy support programs. We are looking to hire a Housing Services Support Administrator to support the Housing Team with individuals and families to obtain affordable accommodation and relevant support services; act as the first point of contact for individuals and families who are new to accessing CONTACT’s Housing programs/supports; and carry out administrative duties.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:

- This position will also support CONTACT’s active role in community advocacy related to homelessness and their work feeds into greater efforts to raise awareness and supports for persons experiencing homelessness in the South Simcoe catchment area. The position will be responsible for working with the Executive team to also develop relevant departmental materials and contribute to the planning and development of affordable housing efforts in the region of South Simcoe.

**DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to)**:

- Manage the Housing phone line and others, as needed, by keeping record of incoming calls, returning calls in a timely manner, identifying the caller’s current area of residence, and to determine through investigative questioning the services/supports applicable to the individual/family;
- conduct CONTACT housing client intake process and HIFIS entries either in the moment or by appointment;
- book current and new client appointments for both the Bradford and the Alliston Housing Access Workers and Housing First Case Managers;
- complete and distribute the South Simcoe Housing Listings weekly;
- ensuring housing informational materials are up-to-date and accessible to both clients and staff;
- connecting with community partners and other service providers to ensure that the informational materials pertaining to those services are up-to-date and accessible at all CONTACT locations;
- attend/ facilitate/ help plan relevant community events and meetings linked to homelessness or housing issues, as agreed upon with the Housing Manager;
- maintain accurate records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations, funding requirements, etc.
- participate and contribute to the staff team through active participation in staff meetings, retreats, debriefing and program events;
- attend weekly Housing meetings and take minutes;
- Assist with various administrative tasks as needed, including: preparing bank deposits, ordering supplies, creating and processing invoices and receipts, photocopying, faxing, and filing (both hard copy and electronic documents), etcas needed;
- Provide brief case management/housing access services when needed (ie. Vacation coverage).
- Other duties as assigned.

**SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Preference will be given to applicants with a diploma in social services work and/or who have recent relevant experience working with the target population;
- Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of three -years of experience in promoting housing for marginalized persons, experience within the Addictions, Mental Health or a closely related field an asset;
- Familiarity with the communities of South Simcoe and the social services landscape;
- Knowledge of the psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery principles and harm reduction philosophy as well as understanding of the principles of Housing First is considered an asset;
- Demonstrated knowledge of human/legal rights and relevant legislation is considered an asset;
- Ability to engage sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication with administrative and organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Knowledge of First Nation, Metis, and Inuit culture is considered an asset;
- Positive personality and demonstrated ability to take initiative and exhibit extra effort to better serve the client;
