**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Department Administrator and under the general direction of the Department Chair and Associate Chair (Undergraduate Studies), the incumbent performs administrative duties for the Department of Electronics. The incumbent administers meetings and schedules for the Department Chair, supports the Associate Chair with student records and course material and accreditation data collection; and assists the Fourth Year Project Co-ordinator.

The incumbent responds to all front counter inquiries, directing individuals to the appropriate staff or faculty member. The incumbent answers and directs all telephone inquiries, distribution of mail, and deliveries received in the departmental office. The incumbent maintains the general office filing system, and monitors and budgets departmental supplies. The incumbent prepares seminar notices and other Departmental communications.

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with faculty, students, staff, and the public.
- Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of secretarial/clerical and office procedures.
- Extensive experience with contemporary software, including: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, BANNER, FAST, E-shop.
- Familiarity with the operation of an academic unit, including: Teaching assignments, Scheduling, Course requirements, Examination procedures.
- Ability to adapt to continual changes in Engineering programs and regulations.
- Flexibility to adjust to new academic procedures and evolving Engineering accreditation and graduate attribute processes.

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Completion of a two-year college diploma in a related discipline.
- Completion of WHMIS, TDG and laboratory safety training.
- Minimum of five years of progressive secretarial/clerical/administrative experience, with a minimum of one year in a University setting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Experience administratively supporting research facilities is an asset.
