**Training & Development Specialist**

This is a temporary full-time (until approximately February 8, 2025) role at the County, with an annual compensation

range of $63,445 - $77,186.

You will identify and assess County-wide development needs to drive

training initiatives that enhance workplace performance and foster

professional growth. Within this role you will creatively design, recommend,

and coordinate comprehensive corporate training programs that align with

our organizational goals.

Your efforts will actively support hiring manager and divisional staff by

implementing innovative educational methods and recognizing

outstanding performance.

Assess company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives, including identifying, recommending, and

coordinating strategic corporate training and development efforts to boost workplace performance and drive

professional growth within our organization. Overall, this position actively searches, creatively designs, and

implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance through support to

hiring managers and divisional staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**_ _

Education
- Community College Diploma relative to the area of responsibility.

Experience
- Some current related experience.
- Special consideration will be given to applicants with the following:

- Work experience in a unionized environment
- o Experience in training or educating adults.

Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of administrative practices related to human resources, health and safety training.
- Proven ability to master the full training cycle.
- Familiarity with talent management and succession planning.
- Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Understanding of basic accounting and budget principles.
- Proven ability to interpret polices and collective agreements.
- Knowledge of office practices related to the preparation of correspondences and reports as well as electronic

informational databases and records management.
- Basic understanding of municipal government, its operations and services.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence, motivate, provide training, using

flexible communication styles and to ensure suitable agreement, so decisions are reached.
- Demonstrated initiative, and ability to make decisions involving routine tasks, within established procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with complex tasks requiring some supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving occasional work with

confidential information.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills involving regular ingenuity, and development of complex,

new, and improved methods, procedures and systems, etc.
- Demonstrated capability to provide orientation or technical guidance, as needed.
- Organizational skills with conscientiousness, to avoid errors and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and guide

interdisciplinary team-based discussions to increase staff morale, team building, and team spirit.
