Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Degree in bioscience, natural resource management, land use planning, agriculture, or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with habitat and land management approaches, agricultural practices and their effects on wildlife habitat.
- Experience supervising staff including coaching, mentoring and developing work plans and learning/training plans.
- Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain effective co-operative working relationships with a variety of groups.
- Superior verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate and present to government, communities, Indigenous organizations, non-government organizations, resource user groups and the general public.
- Superior written communication skills, including the ability to prepare brief, concise and accurate briefing materials that distill complex issues for decision-makers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize work activities to meet deadlines.
- Experience in budget planning or program/project management.
- Knowledge of Indigenous communities and their interests, including familiarity with the Indigenous consultation process.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Section Manager of the Habitat & Endangered Species Section, the incumbent is responsible for the leadership, development and management of the Land Stewardship Unit programs including management of the agro-Manitoba Critical Wildlife Habitat Program, and development, integration and supervision of habitat and land stewardship and conservation agricultural initiatives on private and crown land. This encompasses developing and coordinating bio-inventory and habitat monitoring programs, and assessment of at risk habitats to inform site management planning. The incumbent represents the branch on departmental, provincial, national and international committees or working groups related to land stewardship and is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with a variety of government and non-government agencies and stakeholders. The incumbent also participates in development of policy and priorities for the section and implementation of budget and staffing strategies to ensure delivery of section objectives.
