Job Summary

The System Analyst will support the development of software solutions for mission and safety-critical Air Traffic Management Software. The System Analyst’s activities will focus on software solutioning; completing designs and specifications to meet specific operational requirements.

System Analyst’s activities shall be in accordance with all Corporate Safety and Quality policies and practices, and the Engineering Safety and Quality policies and practices.

Work normally involves:

- planning and performing studies/medium-level projects with a team of technical experts, and/or
- engineering work as part of a project; and/or
- planning and performing applied research, development, or innovative design work.

**Job Description**:
What you’ll be doing
- Work closely with technologists, developers and testers in an Agile software development environment.
- Raise and triage of defects, and participation in defect management activities.
- Ensure high quality and accuracy is maintained through to software release including through following all applicable safety and quality standards and processes.
- Ensure project activities are conducted in a timely manner and following established processes.
- Prepare and maintain detailed plans, system designs, and specifications for the provision and implementation of systems to meet operational, technical and safety requirements
- Support testers with drafting and/or validating test plans, test cases, and test scripts as required for operational validation.
- Support software certification activities.
- Provide documentation and change management support in transitioning design into operation using LCM tools (Jazz), System documentation (User, System manuals, etc.)
- Provide prompt assistance when requested to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems.
- Support field issues; coordinate detail gathering and follow ups.
- Investigate solutions for end-of-life components.

What you bring:
**Education**:

- Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems

Experience
- Experience in project management
- Minimum 2 years of experience in systems Engineering

Knowledge:

- Knowledge of theory and principles of engineering science and of practices in specialized field of engineering.
- A good working knowledge of and demonstrated skills in project management methodologies

Ability:

- Ability to capture and document requirements clearly.
- Ability to identify problem areas, obtain and analyse data.
- Ability to devise and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to establish effective working relations with colleagues and associates.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

- Prioritization, organization and multi tasking skills
- Mentoring and coaching skills
- Analytical skills
- Works well independently and in a team

Working Conditions:

- Moderate level of multi-tasking is required since there are many simultaneous active assignments.
- Field work may involve travel by various modes of transportation.
- Work location is the Ottawa TSC. This position has been classified as Hybrid.
