**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Controller, the individual in this role is responsible for leading the payroll and benefits administration for all Intercare staff while adhering to the values of Intercare. The portfolio will include but not limited to: overseeing and administering Intercare's Group Benefit Plan; the overall supervision, performance management, support and mentoring of all payroll team members; addressing payroll concerns; and ensuring the full cycle payroll is being completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role demands a high degree of confidentiality, focus, and the ability to meet set deadlines.

**Qualifications**:

- Payroll Certificate Program; and/or equivalent CPA program.
- Minimum of 5 years experience completing full cycle payroll in a unionized environment.
- Ability to effectively lead, mentor and develop other payroll practitioners.
- Current knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards.
- Excellent computer skills and prior experience with Microsoft Office (MS Excel specifically). UKG (previously Ultimate Software / Kronos) experience would be considered an asset.
- Excellent accuracy, time management, problems solving and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 8. Ability to work independently and to work effectively as a member of a team.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Orientate, mentor and support members of the Payroll team to Intercare’s full payroll cycle process.
- Provide leadership for the payroll team in process documentation and ensuring consistency in both internal and external communication in accordance with Intercare’s Vision statement.
- Consult with payroll staff to ensure ongoing payroll concerns, research and adjustments are being accurately conducted and processed as required.
- Ensure all aspects of the full cycle payroll that fall under the Payroll department’s responsibility (ie. EDF’s parity, calculation and tracking of Non-Worked stats, sick day incidents) are being completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review bi-weekly payroll reporting confirmations and assist with ensuring time card approval accuracy and timeliness from all sites.
- Ensure Employee Letters of Employment/Portability, Records of Employment and other documentation as requested and/or required.
- Process and produce calculations as required for all non-routine employee earnings and/or deductions such as but not limited to garnishees, vacation year end payouts, non-worked stat payouts, Leaves Of Absence, and other adjustments as required on a bi-weekly basis.
- Process and produce Payroll-related reports to members of Intercare’s Leadership team and Auditors as requested or required;
- Support payroll staff in processing daily parity and other routine bi-weekly payroll processes as required ensuring their timely and accurate completion.
- Complete the bi-weekly Final Payroll Audit process and ensure the accuracy of the bi-weekly payroll prior to final processing to the bank.
- Run bi-weekly audit and final payroll audit and research/key any required changes as requested by Facility Leaders. Provide staff in-services on payroll and benefit related matters as necessary and/or requested
- Responsible for the employee benefit enrolments, changes to coverage, and termination of benefit coverage.
- Review of monthly benefits as billed by Intercare's Group Benefit Plan provider to statement and reconciliation account.
- Review with Benefit team rate changes and adjustments in employee records.
