The Business Systems team is responsible for developing and maintaining management systems and processes (e.g., business planning, enterprise performance management, etc.), ensuring consistency across the organization. These are designed to help drive operational efficiencies, improve decision-making and ultimately helps the organization achieve its goals.

The Business Systems team is currently seeking a **Tourism** **Research & Performance Manager** to join our team. The Research & Performance Manager will be responsible for tracking, analyzing and reporting organizational performance to various stakeholders. This includes identifying best practices and tools/systems for performance management. This role will also conduct industry research in support of Explore Edmonton’s operations as well as organizational strategic and business planning. With this intel, the Research & Performance Manager will help identify opportunities/gaps and provide key data points to support decision-making.

The Business Systems team is part of our Shared Services Group, a team of service-minded individuals who are passionate about ensuring smart, customer-focused business processes are developed and followed. This group serves multiple internal customers and is made up of key business enablers and trusted business partners who provide superior customer service through collaboration, innovation, partnerships, and leadership to ensure the best possible user experience. In alignment with the needs of Explore Edmonton, services include providing governance advice and support, offering scalable business solutions, creating value for employees by building and facilitating connections across the organization.
- Managing internal performance measures development, tracking/analyzing results from various systems, and reporting; this includes survey management.
- Overlaying industry performance indicators with performance measures used by Explore Edmonton’s lines of businesses to track effect/impact by the organization.
- Presenting results/findings within Explore Edmonton and with external stakeholders.
- Supporting industry stakeholders leveraging Explore Edmonton tools for performance management.
- Evolving best practices for performance management (measures, processes, and tools/systems) in alignment with business needs.
- Conducting overall industry research (environmental scan) through various channels to identify opportunities and key challenges for destination management organizations and industry partners.
- Participating in research programs in conjunction with external industry partners (e.g., Destinations Canada, Travel Alberta) and third-party vendors.
- Contributing to Board and Board Committee reporting (e.g., organizational performance results, environmental scans including industry updates, etc.).
- Maintaining/sharing information on the organization’s Intranet and other channels.
- Providing insight into other management systems/processes (e.g., business planning, project management, risk management, etc.).
- Post-secondary education in business, economics, research analytics, or equivalent
- 5-7 years of experience in performance management / data management
- 3-5 years managing programs, projects and/or teams
- Detailed knowledge of performance management systems for organizations/teams
- Strong ability to collect and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data
- Solid understanding of the tourism industry and related measures
- CRM knowledge would be an asset (e.g., Simpleview)
- Proficient with MS Office
- Power BI knowledge would be an asset
- Well-developed communication skills to lead discussions and facilitate consensus, as well as to communicate complex tourism-related concepts and corresponding statistics
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Customer-service oriented with the ability to build and manage relationships.
- Ability to function independently as well as part of a team to collaborate for solutions.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.
