As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Controller will direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization. Reporting to the President, the Controller will assume a strategic role in the overall financial management of Arne’s while also having the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities which include accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting & forecasting, job costing and managing and further developing the business ERP/MRP System.

**Responsibilities**:
**1.** **Accounting Operations**
- Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL processing and reconciling, cost accounting, inventory control, revenue recognition and payroll.
- Provide continuous evaluation of short and long term strategic financial objectives.
- Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, introduction of new projects/ strategies/funding sources and regulatory action.
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
- Work with the senior management team to implement process improvements.
- Identify and participate in cost reduction projects.

**2.** **Financial Reporting**:

- Ensure credibility of the finance group by providing timely and accurate monthly financial statements and undertake analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with CRA and applicable federal, provincial, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Prepare year-end financial statements with supporting documentation and act as primary liaison with external auditors.

**3.** **Supervisory**:

- Provides regular feedback, training, coaching and motivation to direct reports:

- Current staff include Cost Accountant, Payroll Coordinator, Inventory & ERP/MRP Admin, Reception/AP

**4.** **Budgeting & Forecasting**:

- Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and reporting to the Company.

**5.** **ERP/MRP Development**:

- Take hands-on lead position of maintaining and developing the business ERP/MRP System.

**6.** **Other projects as assigned.**

**What you need to be successful in this role**:

- Professional accounting designation (CPA)
- 5+ years’ experience in progressively senior accounting roles
- Experience working in the manufacturing sector
- Experience with managing and developing ERP systems
- Demonstrable business acumen
- Demonstrable track record in change management is preferred
- Supervisory experience is preferred
- Leadership skills including motivating, coaching, and training
- Senior IT skills - MS Office (especially Excel) and experience using ERP/ MRP systems
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization
- Strong problem solving and creative skills
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- Organized, sets priorities, meets deadlines
- High level of integrity and dependability
- A strong sense of urgency
- Results orientated
