Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Controller is Payworks’ in-house numbers guru. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, monitoring and analyzing financial data, preparing financial statements, and communicating key insights to executive management. You will play a crucial role in regulatory compliance and contribute to decision-making processes by providing financial guidance and recommendations to support the overall financial health and success of the company. As a participative leader, you will support the Accounting and Payroll teams by enforcing relevant policies and procedures, managing internal controls, and implementing best practices to drive efficiencies within the department.

**TELL OUR FINANCIAL STORY** - IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO***:
- ** Lead by example** - You will oversee financial reporting and daily financial operations activities including accounts payable, corporate credit card programs, revenue/expense reporting, cash management, forecasting and tax compliance as well as the payroll function. Providing support to the Accounting and Payroll teams in all key decisions, your leadership will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, adherence to applicable controls, and compliance with legislative requirements.
- ** Champion internal controls, compliance & accurate financial reporting** - The financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems you establish and maintain, will help to efficiently monitor Payworks’ financial condition and ensure compliance with GAAP and any other applicable regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. Collaborating closely with other departments, including members of the management team, you will continuously monitor financial performance, ensure compliance with internal controls, and manage the overall budget along with departmental budgets. As the key contact during external audits, you will coordinate all audit related activities, ensuring an efficient and successful engagement.
- ** Manage corporate taxes** - You will manage our corporate taxes, ensuring consistency with CRA records across our multi-entity corporate structure. Leveraging your expertise, you will actively participate in any tax planning activities and participate in other complex tax engagements as required. In addition, you will oversee Federal & Provincial sales tax remittances and related asset/liability account reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate filing and remittances.

**WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED***:
- Post-secondary degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
- CPA designation in good standing is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior accounting role, providing full cycle accounting and preparation of financial statements.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles including consolidations, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows, in a multi-entity corporate structure.
- Experience working with taxation, including compliance, tax planning, SRED, and other complex tax matters.
- Strong understanding of the payroll industry including risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Attention to detail and analytical skills, with ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate into a financial plan.
