Position Purpose

The Volunteer Coordinator is the foundation for excellent volunteer relationships. The role of the Volunteer
Coordinator is to ensure the organization has sufficient volunteers to fulfill the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank
(FSFB) mission and to manage all aspects of volunteer engagement.

About the Role

This part-time role coordinates the volunteer activities of the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank and works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to facilitate our robust volunteer program to meet the needs of the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that courtesy and professionalism is maintained through all interactions with others and utilize their strong team-building skills so that our volunteers feel supported, involved, and dedicated to our cause. This role also includes the coordination of corporate and community group volunteering.

Reports to: Executive Director

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Recruit, train, evaluate and support FSFB volunteers as per volunteer program onboarding process.
- Match volunteers’ needs and skills to FSFB needs.
- Manage requests to volunteer (individuals and groups).
- Ensure all volunteers are properly trained to perform duties as assigned safely.
- Support volunteers to ensure they feel valued and connected in their roles at the FSFB.
- Liaise with FSFB team members to monitor the need for additional volunteers to support programs.
- Ensure volunteers are recognized for their individual contributions.
- Coordinate appropriate volunteer appreciation events while working within a committee.
- Address minor volunteer performance issues as they arise.
- Implement and utilize volunteer management database to maintain accurate and appropriate volunteer records, record volunteer time, facilitate communication and track relative data.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of two (2) years coordinating volunteer programs.
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in volunteer program administration, human resources management or related field.
- Strong belief in the FSFB mission, and a commitment to uphold the organization’s belief statements.
- Acts ethically and strives for integrity and excellence in all areas of responsibility.

- Community oriented.
- Excellent observation and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Previous experience with volunteer management software is an asset.
- Strong organizational and coordination abilities.
- Highly self-disciplined; able to manage multiple projects, focus on priorities and meet deadlines.

Position & Application Period Details

**Job Type**: Part-time
Renumeration: $22-$25/hour depending on skills and experience.
Schedule: Flexible. Weekdays are required.
Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB. This is not a remote position; there is a requirement to work on-site.
