Role Overview: 

The Northern Alberta YMCA is looking for a proven leader to coordinate the Local Immigration Partnership program for a maternity leave cover off (12-18 months). The Coordinator facilitates long term strategic planning, guides implementation of LIP members’ shared strategy, leads periodic research efforts, and maintains strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) are the mechanism through which Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) supports the development of local partnerships and community-based planning around the needs of newcomers and long-term residents. LIPs engage community members, groups, and organizations (private, public, and third sector) to act as an incubator for ideas, measure trends, identify integration needs and mobilize the appropriate community resources to meet those needs. LIPs identify and address local integration priorities, including work to include immigrant needs in community planning, promoting welcoming attitudes, and building community capacity to allow all community members to participate, contribute, and know they belong.

Essential Functions

Lead development and implementation of multi-year integration strategies and action plans by LIP member and partner organizations, by:Engaging a broad range of stakeholder including foreign-born community strategic planning and revising planning documents and memorandums of understanding (as required). Design, lead, and compile research on:Demographics and trends in the community and its immigrant capacity of settlement and non-settlement service providers to support newcomers’ settlement and integration to integration in a number of a summary of consultations held with newcomers, employers, service providers, and other stakeholders in the community. Maintain active engagement of a Partnership Council, committees, and sub-committees. Complete outreach and external engagementPresent, consult, and share information on settlement and integration needs, trends, opportunities, strengths, and best practices with a variety of local, regional, and national interested and affected and onboard new LIP members and volunteers  Prepare, evaluate and work within the approved program budget. Monitor budget lines and report variance monthly. Complete administrative tasks, accurately and in a timely manner. Complete all monthly, quarterly, annual and project reports and claims as required.

 What You'll Need for This Job

Post secondary degree or diploma in Human Services, Social Sciences, or Community Development or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience facilitating groups, processes, community engagement, strategy development and excellent written and verbal communication, with strong organizational, research & project management skills.  Two years’ experience in a coordinator or management role and three years’ experience working a team environment. Knowledge in immigration, diversity and multiculturalism and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. Lived experience as a newcomer to Canada or experience living abroad is an asset. Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders maximizing collaboration and creative community solutions. Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector and where Child Intervention/ Enhanced Security check.
