Head of IT for Startup

You will be responsible for a range of IT tasks, particularly within the Microsoft ecosystem. Your duties will include managing Microsoft 365 services, ensuring optimal performance of our Microsoft-based IT infrastructure, implementing and maintaining security measures in our Azure environments, and troubleshooting issues. You will also be responsible for deploying updates, managing SharePoint online sites, and integrating various Microsoft tools and services to streamline operations. Additionally, your role will involve providing technical support for Microsoft Teams, overseeing the administration of Active Directory, and developing strategies to enhance our overall IT efficiency.
You MUST be self-driven, constantly seeking ways to help grow the business. We are all very busy during the day, so training will be limited. You will learn on the fly.
**Responsibilities**
- **SharePoint and Power Automate**: creating, configuring, and maintaining SharePoint sites and workflows, and automating processes within the environment.
- **Microsoft Teams Support**:managing Teams’ configurations, channels, and meetings, and providing user support.
- **Strategic Planning**: Develop and implement the IT strategy that aligns with the startup's business goals, including short-term and long-term technology plans
- **Software and Security Updates**:Regularly updating Microsoft software and ensuring system security against vulnerabilities.
- **Cybersecurity**: Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the security of company data and IT systems against cyber threats. This includes managing firewalls, antivirus solutions, and regular security audits.
- **Innovation and Continuous Improvement**: Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in IT practices to enhance productivity and efficiency across the company.
- **IT Sales and Quoting**:managing customer inquiries, preparing technical quotes for IT products and services, and overseeing the IT sales process.
- **Bids and Tenders**:Work with sales team to develop bid submissions for IT/tech/cybersecurity of RFPs and RFQs to governments in Canada.
- **Vendor and Contract Management**: Negotiate and manage contracts with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants, ensuring quality of service and value for money.
**Qualifications**:
- Relevant technical certifications.
- Proficient with Microsoft Infrastructure.
- Experience with IT quoting.
- Cybersecurity knowledge
You may begin with a 1-month subcontract position to assess the fit.
We provide a variety of services and goods to the governments (municipal, provincial, and federal), acting as procurement project managers. Everyday is different. We've provided a range of goods from bouncy castles to computer servers to gym equipment and much more. We've provided a range of services from IT cybersecurity training to headhunting to language training. We are a small in-office team of 4, with ~30 remote subcontractors. We are entrepreneurs, willing to take on anything and learn along the way.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
**Salary**: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 30 per week
